Ugh! Was in a local dealership yesterday to test drive an Auto Sport Fit - in Red - don't want red, wanted BOM - they said - I know a dealer that has one, we can do a trade for it. They asked for a small deposit ($100) which seemed fair (refundable if they don't produce the car)...

Turns out they knew of 2 they thought they could get - only to find out both were sold!!! My hopes were up....now dashed

My last car was totalled - I don't have time to order one and wait 3 months....but i want the BOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THe search continues....

woohoo - just got a call from one of the many dealers saying they have one to be built at the end of the month! That might just work, so I put a deposit on it - waiting for the paperwork to be faxed for review....and crossing my fingers...

 

Built at end of month, But the SLow boat from Japan takes 30 days plus trucking to Pennsylvania another couple of days after clearing customs! (I have a little knowledge of Freight Traffic!)

 

uh oh - he said early August delivery....Gulp....he said it usually takes about 7-10 days after he gets the VIN to get the car...so you're saying ii'm looking at 2 months rather than 1???

 

YUP! Probably 2 months in total. Generally one month after it's built!

 

sigh - well, still better than the 3 months everyone else is telling me!! Need to find a nice friend or relative that will let me borrow their beater till then!

 

If the build date is late July it will 5-7 week after that you will receive the vehicle.

 

yikes- maybe i should cancel....don't know if i can be without transportation that long!!! THis is unbelievable...all I want is a friggen economy hatchback...why the hype???? Unfortunately, there are no hatcbacks as nice for the money in IMO....not because the FIt is that great, but because the others are so bad lol

 

Second dealer called - he is saying build date "sometime in august" and claims that the other dealer may be lying about build date....I hate this - why does everyone have to play these games...you can't tell me Honda is not doing this on purpose!!!! This is worst than the cabbage patch craze of the 80s!

 

update: Went to visit the dealer I have the deposit with to see how reliable his info was - he wasn't there, but I found someone else to show me the list of Fits on order - sure enough, mine was there - marked sold by my dealer with a build date of 7/27. So the build date seems official...this particular person estimated 3-4 weeks from build date to delivery (based on past builds).... So earliest I can expect the car is 3rd week in august i suppose....the wait is already killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish there was some sort of real time tracking to follow your car in this process...

 

I was told you gotta wait up to 45 days for an order (and this is in New York City)

 

It's got nothing to do with hype. The reviews all come from owners of this great car.

 

Perhaps thats if you order "from scratch" - this car was already 'ordered' by the dealer - just not sold...least that was my understanding - this is all a mystery and a big game of chance lol

 

30 days? From ship date to dealer delivery in Arizona is only 14-16 day average. Mine took 12 days

 

it wont take that long, they told me 30 days it was here in GA from CA in 15

 

Mine took 14 days to be delivered from the build date.

 

Base MT LMM

April 19: ordered and placed deposit
June 23: received build date of July 13 (build date moved to 7/18)
Aug 11: received ship date of Aug 9
Aug 30: expected delivery date (I'll post when it actually occurs)

Total wait from time of ordering: 4.5 months (if above schedule holds)
