Cr-z

Do any of you fine people have (or had) the Fit's less responsible cousin, the crz? Saw one at the library today and realized it's aging quite well.

Not going to get one - with a kid, buying additional two seat cars is not a good plan - but curious how different it is to drive and if any interesting parts are shared with the GE fit.

Thk

I own a 2016 (final year in US) EX 6 speed and I can say its basically an impractical GE8 that is quieter as well as more comfortable to drive.

The additional torque from the IMA system on the face lift models featuring Lithium batteries is nice (140 lb-ft ib manuals) as well as the Sport + feature on the steering wheel which is almost like a "push to pass" kind of feature. Basically engaging it, with the battery at minimum of a half charge and over 20 MPH will give you full assist from the IMA during acceleration until you either lift off the throttle or the battery depletes. Once the battery depletes and isn't assisting (since it is also the generator/alternator for the vehicle) you'll notice that the CR-Z will be noticeably slower than the GE8 5 speed M/T.

Between the GE and ZF1/ZF2 CR-Zs, good a bit of items interchange with the 2011 to 2015 CR-Zs in terms of after market parts. A little less with 2016s due to larger brakes, an electronic parking brake, and lack of tire pressure sensors (Indirect TPMS is thankfully used). On the other hand, the Fit did get a better dual plenum upper intake manifold as well as the i-VTEC system vs the CR-Z's 12/16 valve VTEC system that the GD3 also has. I-VTEC can be retrofitted to the CR-Zs LEA though by using the L15A7's cam, rocker arm assemblies, along with using either Hondata for 2011/2012s or KTuner on 2013 and onward for tuning of course.

Overall, they are GREAT minimalist commuter cars to get to point to point and are fun to drive as well as comfortable out of the box. They just are noticeably smaller and cannot haul anywhere near as much cargo as a Fit, the rear alignment cannot be adjusted due to how the rear spindles are integrated to the beam like on the GE8, and that they have HORRID rear blind spots thanks to the way the rear quarters are designed. Lane watch and having the larger radio display to see the back up camera feed helps me out a lot to be honest.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to shoot them here.

I looked into 1 of these as another commuter, but for some reason they hold value well down here in my area. I ended up going with a 1st gen Insight instead

Hootie's post pretty much covered all the major points, thumbs up for that

I'm looking at Insight's or CR-Z's for a secondary vehicle also.
