The mathematics will molest you...repeatedly.

No lubrication, either. [As an engineer, I know that a system as such will operate roughly without lube, but operate smoothly/easily with it. See the pun? XD]

On an aside, sorta. My spring semester is gonna be love-hate. I just know it!

You'll get to do stuff like this! XD

which would be the equation of motion (x-position) of a damped oscillating system (i.e. car suspension). Phew.

LaTeX pwns you all, btw.

We just did that that stuff. it's a DEQ modeling a spring, then with the dashpot to model a dampener like a shock, or friction.

The you get to deal with pseudoperiods and pseudofrequencies and such.

First they tell me you can't find the square root of a negative number.
Then they tell me i is the square root of -1.

Now they're gonna tell me there are pseudoperiods and pseudofrequencies?

sonuvabitch

[Also, wtf is a dashpot?]

haha. that's how i feel. i wonder how much of this i'm actually going to use. Don't they just use computers nowadays?

oh, a dashpot is just something that dampens. i think its just like a generic term for a shock absorber or something that absorbs the vibrations.

something that dampens = damper? o_O "dashpot" sounds like something Foreman and the crew would be smoking in the basement.

AH! Progress reports today. They always hand them out on the worst days. They give them to you right before long weekends so that you can get grounded if your grades suck. Lol. Anyways:
1. A in spanish
2. A in Ap psychology
3. B in English
4. B in Chemistry
5. A in Keyboarding
6. A in Weight Training
7. B in Pre-Calculus
Way better than last time.

I hope you're not grounded for great results like that!

Yeah, but my unweighted GPA is a 3.909. I am trying to see if I can only get A's and B's, but mostly A's. My worst grade for a year after 11 classes has been a B, and it was in spanish class. After always having advanced classes (I am taking a math class that is two years ahead what I should be taking), I have only gotten one B and this year is gonna screw me over.

Question

Hey guys, what is it when there are like 75 students who take the same test and only like 3-5 pass it? Is there something wrong with the students or the teacher? Because in my pre-calculus class we had a chapter 1 test (like 75-85 pages of info) and only a few kids passed and everyone else failed, including me. Is that unheard of?

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!
I HATE MIDTERMS!!!!

To make things worse, it's my first test.

Depends, usually I'd say its the teacher's fault because the grades reflect on how well the teacher reaches the student by having them understand how to do the work properly. But there is also the factor of not studying or paying attention in class; however, if 3-4 out of 75 fail, that really sounds like the teacher didn't really do their job too well.

That is what some of the kids in my class are debating. They are going to have parent-teacher meetings to discuss what happened and to see if he can give us a curve or something. He is a good teacher, but making us take a test on 125 pages of math is BS in my book.

Oh man I bombed that, like disgusting. I only got like 2 or 3 right out of 12 if i was lucky.
It was the same with everyone else. Either you got most of them right or you didn't even try.

I had his midterm today (pre-calculus). I think out of 25 i got 18-20 right. The only problem is remembering stuff that once you look at, you're like "#@!!$^*&$^*&)" because you were just studing it. Like the difference quotient and f of g---F(g(x)) and stuff. It was better than my last test though.
