Harbor Freight Replacement Jack Stands Recalled

Yes you read that right - Harbor “Fright” is recalling the replacements to the recalled jack stands. Trust them now?

Now if you read the Road &Track article and link, HFs wording may lead to believe that potentially some of their 2011-2020 Jacks Stands might have a defect. They list the model numbers back to 2011 on this link and say that you can even take those in for a refund- no replacement.

i wanted to reiterate - Harbor Freigtbis recalling the replacement jack stands it gave to people who turned in their original recalled stands.

In addition that are “taking back” stands for refunds as old as 2011 year based upon the part numbers. They are not claiming older ones are faulty but are not saying that the welds meet requirements. I read that as a no admission of fault aka CYA on all of their 2011-date jack stands. Pretty serious stuff if you ask me. They are also not replacing any returns which tells me their supplier cannot make a safe product.

I have two of the grey ones and two of the red ones which I bought two weeks ago - SKUs 38846 + 56372. Both are not part of the NHTSA recall but qualify for a voluntary refund. I plan to return them this weekend. What is a good option that is not too expensive? I feel like everything in this price point share the same design and probably come from the same factory.
