fit and s2000
people outside of the honda circle dont look at s2000 with respect.
here is the reason why.
genius s2000 owners who thinks way too highly of their car.
s2000 owner: im faster then all these cars!!!
reality: no, you are not. you can barely beat a neon srt4 off a roll. you have about as much displacement as a bottle of coke, you have about as much torque as a civic hybrid. this just in 14.2@100 is not fast.

but if u wanted a 2 door... and if you could spend ~$10-15k more, i would suggest a lotus elise. nice little 2 door race car :D lotus elise msrp= $46,270
also, you might want to check out the 2008 impreza wrx 5 door version. it looks awesomes.
Let's not forget that "fast" is a relative term. If you're used to a Honda Fit's acceleration, the S2k will blow your ass away. On the other hand, if you're used to riding around in a 12 second car, then yes, the S2k will seem comparatively slow. Unfortunely, if you're not satisfied with the S2000's acceleration, theres very little you can do to increase the power without spending thousands on a supercharger or turbo.
But all this is really moot. The S2000 is not ment to be a drag racer.

08 wrx and sti looks kinda bad. i rather get evo x. but two doors seem really nice. i dont think canada sell lotus elise. =(
Why do you want two doors so badly? To be honest, theres been many, many times where I've been inconvenieced or had to change my plans because my S2000 only holds one passenger, and has virtually no cargo space. It really gets annoying after awhile.
Please, lets not let this turn into a 1/4mile-drag flame thread.
I sold my '03 Spa Yellow S2000, original owner, to pick up a Fit :). I agree with everything 9K_RPM mentioned in his first post. I LOVED my S2000 but it was time to go. It is not meant as a daily driver, which is what I used it for. But I still loved it. I agree the S2K will get beaten by many cars nowdays (Hell the new 2007 V-6 Camry will beat many cars on the road going straightline). But that is only one factor in comparing these cars.
What you REALLY need to determine are your priorities before you plop your money down on one of these vastly different automobiles. Assuming you keep your fit you don't need any practicality so I'll assume your second car will be purely for driving enjoyment. My friends have owned multiple G35's and a 350Z. One now has a 2007 Vette.
Anyway, take these into consideration:
- S2000. Pure sexy. IMHO (biased of course) one of the best built, best quality, fun-to-drive cars around. It's an engineering masterpiece. Up until at least 2003 was hand-assembly-line-built only in Japan at the same plant that builds NSX's (no other cars were built there), but not sure if this is the case for the USDM 2004+ models. It's meant to be a pure track car with very few amenities. Lighter than most (2800lb) and thus feels much more nimble and tossable. Won International Engine of the Year (2.0L) five years in a row. Pure driving enjoyment. But you'll get smoked if you try to drag-race stoplights. You'll have a blast in the mountains, but the snap oversteer that 9K_RPM mentioned means that you have a good chance of crashing your car once you lose it. Car gets crazy once pushed passed it's limits (which are very high). No torque. Don't ever let your rear tires get low on tread. Newer 2004+ models remedy some of these a little. Noisy on the freeway. Best gas mileage of the bunch, I averaged solid 25+MPG over the 4 years driving mostly in city traffic, though newer 2.2L motors may be less.
- G35. Luxury amenities and decent build quality. Very sleek, classy, and sporty. Great torque. Slowest straightline acceleration when compared to these other cars, but the new sedans may change all that - 300HP or something. Can't handle / track race like the other cars mentioned - too heavy. 20MPG or less. Best of the bunch to go touring in and other long drives.
- 350Z. Affordable, great torque, speed and tire-chirping goodness. Okay build quality. Mass production car. Fun to drive straight but a little bulky feeling and can't track like the S2000 and AWD cars. Some cool amenities. 20MPG or less. Traction control used to cause problems under hard driving even when turned off, but don't know about current models.
- STI / EVO. Crazy laugh-out-loud performance anywhere you drive. Rain and poor weather are meaningless. Rally-car heritage. High quality AWD powertrains and performance parts come stock but less refined interior build quality (compared to others here) is the trade-off. Extreme styling puts you in the racer-boy category. Tons of mods available at varying price ranges. How long do the engines last running at massive boost? I have not researched this. You should definitely research longevity stats hard before buying used.
- '07 Vette. A real sports car -- but maybe too much car if you're young. Enjoy the sport compact cars before going here. So low that the car scrapes EVERYWHERE. Incredible performance and very respectable gas mileage for a V-8. Torque will blow your mind. Performance will blow your mind. Not sure how the build quality is on the new vette's but the previous models used to shake themselves apart.
Just my thoughts. Tried to be as objective as possible (S2000 excepted). Make a list of what's most important to you and decide from there.

it's got no advantage in the straightline, and outside of high angel high speed turns, it's not going to outhandle any of the cars either... snap oversteer and low torque makes the car extremely difficult to drive.
ever tried to pull a decent 0-60ft with the s2000?? want to slip the clutch at 5k and see the car bog down the line and pull a 2.4 0-60ft?
your ownership of the car have blinded you.
are you kinding me!???? s2000's are respected by car Enthusiasts, not ppl like you.... and not beating an srt from a roll??? how much street racing have you seen? I got a friend with a bone stock 2000' s2k that will rip some shit outta the cars you speak so highly of, running a 13.7 in a stock s2000... like rcantu said theyre canyon carvers, but they can go straight line... theyre a well respected car, and should be, I have yet to have talked to an s2000 owner who thinks theyre faster than all other street cars
as far as the 13.7 goes... i've already said the evo 9 runs high 12s, so really? do you not realize high 12s is still faster then 13.7 and 14.2??
as far as respect goes... why dont u go post up "do you respect honda s2000's performance??" threads on some 911 turbo forums? or viper forums? im sure the 14.2, or 13.7 @100mph is really going to blow them away...
s2000 is high up on the foodchain in the honda circle, in the grand scheme of things, it's near the middle.
Japense built Subarus are known for being the most reliable and having excellent build quality. Subarus have been known to last to 300,000+ miles without problems.
why dont u go to s2ki, even the fanboys over there will tell you it's a 50/50 for a s2000 against a srt4.
as far as the 13.7 goes... i've already said the evo 9 runs high 12s, so really? do you not realize high 12s is still faster then 13.7 and 14.2??

yea sure im gonna post up in a fourm where they buy their cars fast and think theyre better than every1 else sure ill do that right now ok... come on now seriously... Im talking jap imports, its one of the top cars! and if its not respected it sure the hell should b! like I said it is respected by car enthusiasts not morons
in another word, you are getting car envy from grandmas and grandpas driving corollas, civics, accords, camrys?? the real car enthusiasts!!
but people driving real sport cars like vipers and 911 turbos are not real car enthusiasts? but morons.
i knew you werent all that bright, but this just takes the cake.
who the fuk is talking about getting envy???? and not saying all of them are morons but alot of them love to put down well made cars... why are you even on this fourm???? puttin down one of honda's pride and joy???? go jock their nuts on their fourms, and tell them how much you love their cars, and how much of a piece of shit car and evo 9 is, cuz thats wat they think about it.. peace :D

no, genius, they are not putting down your precious s2000, they are putting it into it's rightful place.
as far as they think how much the evo 9 is a piece of shit, thats okay, because the same people will think the s2000 as a piece of shit, a slower piece of shit.
so are you a real car enthusiasts? you respect a car like the s2000? but not a 911 turbo or viper?
way to go, honda fanboy tool.
Well my personal opinion is that the S2000's are great cars and you can't even compare it to an evo. The evo's 4wd, 4 door, and turbo. Now the S2k on the other hand is either a 2.0L or a 2.2L but its a NA engine which makes an amazing amount of hp concidering the size of the engine and the fact that its NA. Lets see mitsubishi make an NA engine with that kind of power. I don't thinks so. Now to the reliability factor the Honda wins hands down. Personally I would take an STI over the two of them. Now their fun cars! But I also work on subbie's everyday! Still love my Honda's. Representing!
