EP3 vs FIT

EP3 vs FIT
first off, sorry if this is a repost
i bought my fit back in may and its sitting on 24k as we speak....my fit is perfect with my job in real estate right now.....but i dont plan on being in the job much longer. i'd like to get a job that i could just drive to work, park the car and work, then drive home...not use my personal car 700+ miles a week mostly for work. so when i'd get another job the choice come for me personally......keep the fit or get an ep3. here my list so far.....PLEASE add input
Fit
good
-i bought it new may 07'
-mpg
-cheap insurance
-few on the road
-fun to drive
-ect....
bad
-can't reason spending 3.5k for turbo/sc in an auto
-......its an auto
-limited aftermarket (right now)
-ect..
Ep3
good
-a2 swap, sc or turbo pretty quick little car
-visually more appealing (to me)
-love the int.
-rally shifting
-ect...
bad
-used
-older than fit
-worse mpg
-higher insurance
-tempting to dump every dollar into
thats the quick list i just made up, if anyone has any input/opinions please let me know

I say keep the Fit. If you want speed just start saving for a SC or turbo like you said. Thats what im going to do. It seems like the EP3 would cost you more. Plus i think the Fit looks alot better, but of course that all personal opinion.

EP3s are slow. not much faster than a Auto fit. I only like EP's with the mugen lip kit. Why not get a manual fit when its time. I would never get rid of my fit for a EP.
but im constantly up and down with this idea.....which is why i opted for you guys to help with your own opinions

Well of course on a forum full of FitFreaks pretty much everyone here is going to say Fit. Go on a EP forums and they will all say EP, its just your personal preference on what you want.

i figured some members may have been ep3 owners so they could give me the input from experience with both cars.
but as jdmchris said....about a manual fit........i'd prob be much more happy with my car. but i dont want to do anything until id get a diff job, do much dang driving

Sit down and write what your needs are and what they will be once you quit that job.
This is the only thing that should dictate what car you end up with. That way you know in a few years from now you will still be happy with your purchase.
Also keep in mind that the aftermarket is pretty good for a car that;s only been out for a bit over a year and the aftermarket for the EP3 was no where as close to that after it had been in production for the same amount of time.
I think if we give it a bit of time, the aftermarket for the Fit will be almost as good as for EFs, EGs, EK, and DC2s.

also in on a side note thats why i haven't modded my car...i'd actually seriously consider trading it in for a 5spd fit but i dont know if the dealership would rack up stupid fees and what not....even when i paid more for auto:mad:
but i would already have wheels/tires and a painted valve cover :D

I loved my '05 EP3. It was pretty quick. But it was tempting to dump all of my money into since there is such a huge amount of modifications you can do to that car.
You can't go wrong either way. They're both great cars.

both good cars however the fit is more restrictive in terms of aftermarket. ppl will argue say that the Fit is a new car blah blah...but the truth is the 1.5 L15A won't yield much options not now, not in the future period. Don't get me wrong, the Fit is a rather spacious, stylish, fun driving econ car :wavey:

i prefer the fit over the EP3, because in my mind and many others the EP3 was just a complete FAIL of the civic. It was the worst Civic type R produced . Even Mr. Ichishima said the car was not one of hondas greatest moments. But i dont know thats just my opinion haha

the auto fits in cali must be A LOT quicker than over here in NC...because even a stock manual fit driven hard will only yield a sub 10 second 0-60 time.
Most ep's driven normally register at least low 8's 0-60. in other words, significantly faster.

first off, i'll say that i've always liked the ep3 for what it is...i just thought that it should have read: EX-S or something instead of SI.
a lot of people want to talk ish on the ep3, without realizing that it actually is a decent platform, and very european feeling in nature.
the only problem is that the version that we got here was the wrong one: we should have got the type r version, which basically had a higher performing variant of the k20, and a much more serious suspension. (and hid's :D ).
in fact, that type r has been widely considered as THE hot hatch in europe for quite some time! it only until recenty has been dethroned.
the fact of the matter is that even ep's are hard to come by used, or with low miles for that matter. as far as parts go, there are plenty of them NOW, so it matters not what the aftermarket was like 'back when it came out'.
but no matter how you slice it, its going to be more expensive to enter the ep world in general. you will be quicker initially, but once you pull up to even a JRSC fit that also happens to be an auto, he'll more than likely take you.
in the grand scheme of things though, a type r swap is easy, and plug and play, and not nearly as complicated as it is sticking it into, say, an ek or something. but again, the engine itself and the cost of the swap are formidable.
it really depends on what you want. i don't see to many ep's around anywhere, but the downside is that the people who own them are split down into 2 very different groups: those who REALLY REALLy know their honda stuff, even outside of whats offered in Japan....and then those who have no idea, hence why they thought they were badass when they bought an ep.
tough call man. one is more expensive but has more potential. the other isn't, but doesn't have as much potential. what is it YOU want? is the go fast now more important? or is the 'be fleet for now and then REALLY fast (and maybe broke?) later' more important?

do whatever you wanna do man, sometimes opinions from others are bad cuz in the end, its not what's practical and the best calculated decision, its what you want in a car...i know ppl who regretted buying the fit cuz it felt really slow, and traded it in for a new civic si and they were much happier...and someone who traded in their 06 civic ex for a fit, and found it to be better because of the cargo room and cheaper insurance...so it all depends what you want

the new adjusted estimates are 22/28.
not horrible, but its not that much worse over the 24/31 that the acura rsx gets or the 20/28 that the type s version got or the very similar mileage the new si gets.
granted they have more power, but gas is gas and money out of pocket is money out of pocket.
actually, now that i think about it, i never want to hear anyone say the VW rabbit has bad mileage. it currently is rated at 21/29. not bad for a car with an extra cylinder and .5 litres of more displacement.
anywho off topic. it doesn't have great milege, but its on par with other k series. if he does get it and swap in a more powerful k, it will only go down. (AND require premium.)

I like the EP3 body style alot!:hyper: As stated above we certainly got the wrong model on US soil. But none the less faster for sure then our Fit's!
Funny all of this has come up because I was debating and looking for a EP3. I believe it also has a more EURO look as well as bringing the dual tip exhaust to Honda's...great car. Unique shifter and hey it's still a K20A3:vtec:
I love my Fit though!!!

Hi, im new to the forum, but i don't know if this will help your decision! im in the process of trading in my 06' Sti for a 08' Fit 5speed! I did the same thing and did the pro's and con's! yes it's a major downgrade but If you just want something that looks good and get you around with great gas mileage, and still have the option to be modify, i say keep the fit! im going to save a total of $600 a month on payments, gas, and insurance!
