Spy Shots: Toyota/Subaru coupe caught in the wild - Autoblog
Spy shots of mule toyota/subaru FR coupe for the upcoming AE86 return.
Supossedly we won't get the toyota version, just the subaru version. But I am already saving up.

Doesn't get me excited, the WRX basically has the same HP and this looks to be close in price.
The styling is kind of blah, Subaru has gone from aggressive exciting styling to this bland blanket style half the other cars have right now. Either they fix the styling or throw an extra 100hp at it to make this catch my interest

It probably won't look anything like the spy shots. The only thing you can get from those pics about the production version will be the wheelbase, ride height, and seat height. The seats are recaro and the postion looks low. I believe this is gonna be one sick car if their benchmark is the civic type r.

IIRC, Edmunds Inside Line (or was it autoblog.com?) said the RWD 2.0L naturally aspirated longitudinally opposed boxer engine (130-150hp) will be priced between 20-30k. there will be a turbo RWD and AWD version making about the same numbers as the base wrx. no solid evidence yet, just speculation.

funny thing was i never looked at this as the return of the ae86. toyota will never get back to those roots on its own, much less on a joint venture with subie.
and they benchmarked the usdm integra type r, not the civic type r.
according to edmunds, the engine is supposed to be an n/a making around 200 hp, i didn't realize now it was going to be turbo.
and price wise its going to be starting at 20k.
i really don't think we should complain, hp or otherwise, being 109 hp(for the most part;) ) fwd supcompact guys.
