Nissan's reliability has really gone downhill the last 10 years or so. I just got rid of a 2000 Sentra that had problems. The wife and I were trying to wait for the 2009 Fit to come out, but we got tired of waiting for the next thing to break, so we opted for a 2008.

To F1 - I hope everything goes well with your new purchase.

As for me, I've soured on Nissan, save for a select few models.

My wife's Wrangler was having issues again and we dumped another 600 bux to fix it. On the way to pick it up we stopped at Nissan to see what they had. We already went to Toyota and they had nothing. Honda had a few M/T fits but we really wanted an auto since I already have an M/T.

We found an 08 black versa SL sedan with CVT with tan interior and the wife really liked it. After going through the usual bullshit with the dealer we got the car for a little over $100 above invoice (166654).

I preferred the hatchback but the sedan was the only one with tan interior. The only thing that I didn't like was nissan making ABS as an optional package (which the car didn't have). If you are considering a versa, don't bother with the S, the seats are shitty.

Congrats on the buy...question....any thoughts about the Toyota Yaris. I believe they come as a sedan along with the hatch.....how bout Scion?
Congrats again!

They didn't have any yaris' at the local toyota dealer and the only scion they had instock was the tc which isn't very practical for us. Pretty much all the yuppies traded in their hummers and suburbans for the small cars. I test drove an Xd a while back and it wasn't up to par with the fit or versa

Congrats on the purchase. The Versa is a cool car. I was torn between the Versa hatch and the Fit when I was buying. I liked the power and 6-speed in the Versa. But I like the styling and handling better on the Fit.
I saw an intake manifold for the Versa in the last Siphon magazine issue... it supposedly added something like 18 whp... keeps your eyes peeled for that.

I like the French-ness of the Versa's styling, and I hear it's a much better freeway cruiser than the Fit since it has a more powerful engine and nicer/quieter interior. Anyways, a lot of people I know have Nissans and all love them.

HOLY CRAP BATMAN! Are you kidding? 10 or 8 mpg? You should have pushed that jeep off the lift when it was getting repaired and collected the insurance money.

Congrats on the Versa. I had a Versa sedan while my Fit's bumper's paint was being fixed. It wasn't too bad. At least you bought from the big three (Honda, Toyota, Nissan)!

i wish i was kidding but that car was killing my wallet. We calculated that we'd save almost $150 per month on gas, so the savings almost paid for the car itself. We would avg 10 on a good day without A/C.

I was kinda mad cuz i could've cleaned the 2 parts that needed to be replaced (the IAC valve and IAT sensor) and saved myself a ton of money and prolly get the same amount for the trade in. Bit I didn't think we were gonna buy a new car that day.

Something is seriously wrong with that Sammy. The one I sold my brother gets 27MPG with 110K on it. It was the computer controlled carb variety. With a 1.3L engine, there's no way 6mpg is normal.

I'm not sure what exactly was wrong with it, but yeah, obviously something was wrong. Then again, it's not up to me to fix random kids' off-roaders. He had put huge off-road tires on it which were probably really working the little engine. Other than that I have no idea why his mileage was so bad.
