NEW 1.8L Civic auto gets 7.2L/100km combined [32.67MPG (US)]
NEW 2.0L Civic auto gets 8.0L/100km combined [29.4MPG (US)]
If you stop a think about it for a second it makes logical sense that a smaller capacity engine in a lighter car gets better fuel economy than a larger capacity engine in a heavier car.
To further put the Fit into perspective the NEW 1.3L Hybrid Civic auto will get better fuel economy than the previous outgoing model Civic Hybrid at 4.6L/100km [51.13MPG (US)]. The Prius gets 4.4L/100km [53.46MPG (US)] but develops total power of 53KW (71HP) compared to the NEW Hybrid Civics 85KW (114HP).
*The US after MPG denotes US gallons not imperial gallons.
**Figures are all ADR81/01 test results and bare absolutely no relevance to real world driving or actual consumption figures recorded by real people. They are really only useful for comparing vehicles under the same unrealistic controlled test conditions.
