Thoughts on 09 Honda Pilot EX-L?
So I love my 09 Fit Sport that I bought recently, and now my girlfriend is looking at buying a new car. She wants a larger car of the SUV variety, and I have become a huge fan of Honda so I'm steering her towards them as opposed to something like a Ford Explorer which her family would prefer. She likes the CR-V, but wants something with a little more size and power for the future. What do you all think of the latest Pilot, and any thoughts on general Honda reliability and quality? I'm sure she won't downsize to the Fit, so I'd appreciate keeping it specific to this car. Thanks! :)
if you're thinking about the future as in KIDS, then you might want to consider
the odyesse. SUV's are pretty clumsy to use for kids because kids have a hard time
climing in, also it's tough on you when you need to buckle them in while outside
in the rain/snow.
with a minivan you can climb inside with them and then buckle their belts
inside. something to consider. :)
but hell, we got 2 little ones and we got 2 FitSports. we do fine. getting SUV/minivans
for kids is nonsense unless you got like 3 or more kids and or want to carry in-laws
all the time which will get old VERY FAST. lol :D
some folks own a cooper-s (like me) and use that as dd... you just need to be more
creative.

Well, she grew up in a family that had a constant stream of Chevy Suburbans, plus kids are a couple years in the future. I agree with you, I'm not an SUV guy at all, but there's no way you'll be able to talk her out of that into a minivan. ;)
Ha, sorry guys, she won't be talked out of an SUV, and she doesn't worry about paying for gas. The real question is if the Pilot is a good car. We test drove it and she liked it, but the interior seems a little cheap and plasticy to me for the price.
save the world and talk her into a crv. even if you have two kids, there is no need for a pilot.
my parents have a pilot. but they also have 5 children still living at home.
as far as the pilot goes though, it is nice, mileage is not wonderful, even with the vcm and it will be reliable. but the brakes are terrible, like most modern hondas, and you can read about it in pretty much every review.
you should look into a gently used 08.

+1 well stated. :)
but then it's your wife's car. get her wat she really wants. :)
The Venza is actually a good option. Way better mileage, looks pretty upscale/sporty, and available with AWD. Or the Subaru Forster XT, really sporty, decent mileage. I'm not really impressed with the new Pilot or the Ridgeline for that matter. I expected much better from honda. If I were to get a new truck it would be a Tacoma quad cab TRD stage 2 in silver with the black wheels and all skidplates. I loved the old 4Runners but the new ones are too big. I would get an FJcruiser if it had a lil more interior room and less visibility problem out of the back.
