Should I buy this?!?!?

Check this out guys! I found a 1997 Acura Integra GS-R for sale for $1500! No rust, has a broken quarter panel window and a tear in one of the back seats. Milano Red (or whatever pant code they used for red then). Original B18C with a turbo and the Integra LS meshies on it looks like. The guy says the turbo is leaking oil, and he had to delete the power steering. I would probably remove the turbo, add the power steering and AC back and run it naturally aspirated. I'm considering getting a loan for $1500, selling my Mustang and using the left over cash to help rebuild the B18C. Or just part the car out. lol $1500 for rolling chassis, $400 for the meshies, $600 for the B18C tranny, and that's not talking about the block and head.

Here's the description:

Seller's Description and Comments

Excellent Project Car! This is a TURBOCHARGED Acura integra for sale. I work in the humanitarian field, currently in Mexico, and I don't have the time to keep this car anymore. I haven't driven it in a long time, because the turbo started leaking oil. I'm not sure if it's a bad seal or what. The car will need to be towed or dollyed to your house. The car has a rebuilt motor that was done at about 100,000 miles in preparation for the turbo build. It has JE pistons, block guard, ARP studs, cometic head gasket, Type R camshaft, Wideband O2 sensor, and much much more! The engine, transmission, and parts of the car are worth way more than the selling price. This is a very cheap entry to obtain a 13 second car. I ran a 13.7 at 110mph. It has dynoed at 230 horsepower at the wheels. I am looking for someone that has the knowledge, passion, and time to take on a new project. In order for the Turbo to be fabricated into the car, the air conditioning and power steering was removed. Any cosmetic defects are shown in the

Nice. I am always nervous about buying used cars that have aftermarket forced induction. The JE pistons might be low compression for the turbo, so you might need new pistons to run it N/A.
I want to get a project car eventually. There are a few cars I've been thinking about picking up, and the GS-R is one of them.

The guy emailed me, and I called my buddy who is a great mechanic (has an El Camino that runs 11's) and he said get it. Either rebuild or part out. Either way. He has a trailer. Printed out my check stub to go to the bank tomorrow for the small loan (faster than cashing in my work profit sharing plan). Trying to set up a meeting to check it out and get an eyeball on it.

Congrads! Great find and sounds like the perfect project car. We want to see some pictures once you get it home.

if you need to take a loan out for $1500 then i dont think you should be getting a car period. no offense, but i would set my priorities straight. im pretty sure you can do without a loan and not be in debt. :D

just my .02

A loan if faster than withdrawing from my company profit sharing account. That takes weeks (they really don't wanna share those profits lol), and I'm sure the guy isn't gonna go "yeah, I'll wait three weeks for you".

But thanks for the input. I'm gonna try and call him to talk about it. Already got my buddy ready to tow it home for me and either rebuild or part out. I really want a DC more than anything, and this is a great find EVEN if the motor would need a rebuild. KBB as is comes out to $3700.

Plus I've had two offers on the foxbody, but I wanna replace the door handles first so no one has any reason to low ball me on a $20 part.

Someone picked it up the day before I was going to! Son of a b!@ch!!!

I guess it's back to the drawing board. I want DOHC VTEC power dammit! Guess a LS/VTEC conversion will have to be in my future because I doubt I'll ever find another GSR that cheap again.
