40mpg hwy and 29 local isn't bad for the new ford fiesta. and given from our own experiences with the Fits, we all know the govt's MPG numbers are usually lower than what we get...as we get higher #'s.
go ford. if they had more cargo room like the fit's, then it would be such a nice car.

my car is spot on with the government mpg ratings so far
From my limited experience, it looks like they are spot on for the general consumer. Of course, if you add in hyper miling and mods, then sure, it will vary.
as for ford- I'd never buy another one. I'm happy ford is making a go of it, and I know there are some nice fords on the road for sure. However, I'm not going to give them a chance to fool me a second time. It will take a long time for the name to be restored.
