The power of pump gas and meth!

Yesterday a fellow DSMer ran a 10.3 @ 143mph using plain jane pump 93 and meth injection on a 2.0L!
DrewJ DSM/EVO Shootout 2011 10.38 @ 143mph 93 octane + 50/50 meth - YouTube

There were a surprising number of people in the 8 sec range too! Those videos have yet to be posted as far as I know, but both the Abele bro's out of kentucky pulled 8sec passes, including an 8.45!

That's a cool car and takes lots of tuning to get that much power from 93 octane and water/meth kit.

I know quite a few guys using E85 for their high boost applications and love it.

If you have huge injectors and a monster fuel pump you can run 100% Ethanol.. with great results... They've been doing it everywhere from Indy to Bonneville for decades. It has Great octane but very little power when compared to gasoline

Yup E98 is fantastic stuff.

Big fan of E85, but its very inconvenient for me around here. I had to use a Bosch -044 fed by a Walbro 255 (plumbed in series) on big fat 4ga. cables with -8AN feed line and 1450cc injectors to supply enough fuel to keep up with my 65lb/min turbo.

Which is why I went the pump/meth route.

E85 is hard to find and does not store that good. They are having transportation problems and ethanol has to shipped to gas terminals by trucks and is mixed there as gasoline is distributed to other trucks. So basically a tanker truck sits next to the terminal and fuel is taken out and metered by computer to fill a tanker truck going to a station near you.

Thanks for the kind words. I saw my video had a "Honda Fit Forum" tag on it, so I decided to check it out.

The car is built by me, tuned by me......driven by me. :) I also drive it work and go cruising with my friends whenever possible.

Im going to try some more boost and a little more methanol and see if I can go 9's on pump gas. I think that would be pretty awesome. Actually, I could have gone 9's that day, but I wasn't launching the car very hard and cutting 60fts in the mid 1.70's. I think with a 1.5x 60ft, the car would go 9's easy.

Enjoy some pics.

Huh? They are the cheapest single digit cars besides a fox body 5.0. Even then it's a close.

The 2 fastest cars around here is a 5.0 Mustang with a ton of money poured into it that looks like a show car and sounds like a full out track car.. Right behind it is a raggedy looking Eclipse owned by a kid that has scraped to buy what he needed, sweated and busted his knuckles doing all of the work on his little beast by himself... What I have recently learned is that a person that has his eyes and ears open can have a scary fast car for a relatively small amount of money by going with an old Mitsubishi turbo 4 powered car.

On an N/A Fit?

I'm guessing you don't intend to run Methanol as your primary fuel..

He said he was doing meth, not methanol... That stuff will dry your mouth out, rot your teeth, make your hair fall out and you will have to hang out with skanky looking women that live in section 8 housing.

Drinking methanol isn't a good thing either. My father pointed out old alcoholics that walked funny and told me they had "Jake Leg" from drinking wood alcohol and that they were lucky to have not gone blind... I thought he meant they were jack off idiots too when he talked about going blind... Did you sell your old beast while I was out of commission? I was very impressed with the way the kid's 90 Eclipse walked off from me the other night.. He said he got off of the throttle at 135 while I was at 120 and still climbing... He had a radar detector so all three of us got off of it.

No still have it so far, a local kid said he wanted it. Not sure how serious he is. But not in any particular hurry. There are a couple things I wanted to do before I sold it anyways.

-Fuel Pump re-wire
-More ground straps in the engine bay
-Re-tap a brake line bracket on the front passenger shock assembly

In the event he doesn't come through..

If you decide to buy it, I'll sell you the bigger turbo off my other motor and I'll give you a fuel pump or two.

I'm upgrading for next season :D

My wife is bitching for me to put some money into here truck and of course a whole lot of other stuff right now. I will have more income when I start drawing social security in February... Wow I just heard some massive thunder.. After a long dry spell the old lady likes to run outside into the rain.. I am back and forth in my head about your car. I know how bad the salt on the roads up there is on the underside and body panels of cars up there. Are they pretty eaten up on the Eclipse? As it is how much boost will it make and is there on line info or books I can get to assist in tuning it.. Is there tuning stuff I would have to buy in order to play around a little with different A/F ratios when using home brewed concoctions or other than 50-50 W/M mixture... I have only had a couple of fast cars that weren't butt ugly but my wife doesn't like ugly no matter how fast it is... I'm kind of thinking out loud to myself a lot thinking about this but like I said I did like the way that thing did go and I cant go much faster in the fit with out more boost and head work which would also mean stronger internals, all coming out to be more than what I would need to spend on your reject that will still out run the Fit even after throwing money into it.. I can't do anything very well and every year it becomes harder to do things... It has been that way all of my life. No money, money no time, money, time, no place to work. Now I have all I need but I keep messing up or take forever and end up in pain which is fine if I get the work done first... The temperature is going to be bearable for the next few days so I will make the most of it.... Did I tell you I picked up a Weapon R manifold? I read that the pipe openings on the runners are 3mm larger in diameter than the intake ports where the feed into...
