maintenance supply prices...

to be honest, I have no idea where this topic goes... figure here is as good as any place.

In any case, I thought it might be useful if people put up prices for stuff they buy (like motor oil, filters etc)... or even if they just saw it and didn't buy it. Maybe it'll help those shopping around.

Walmart "Supercenter" in Niles, IL 10/07/2001

1 jug (5 qt) of 0w-20 (bought) or 5w-20 Mobil 1: $26.62 ($29.15 after tax)
1 qt 0w-20 Mobil 1 (saw): $6.42 (or something like that, I'd guess the 5w-20 qt would be the same price)

I'm not sure if all Walmarts will have it, so YMMV (your mileage may vary). My oil change is about to come up, so I bought some oil. I bought two jugs... no idea why really. *shrugs*

i usually make a quick stop at walmart too to get the 5qt jugs. usually about $25 for the Mobil1 silver cap.

as for filter, i buy a few oem ones when i order something online. they're like $5-6 each with the washers.

washer fluid, i just use generic -22F one usually on sale $1.25-2.

I would just use the purolator ones which you can find at advance auto parts for cheap. When you need some, go on their site and put in the code P20 to get 20% off. Brings it down to around $3-$4. If you have more stuff to buy there are other codes out there to save some money (except on oil).

I ordered a box of 30 oil Honda filters from Bernardi Honda... because I ordered it (and a pack of washers) with other things, the overall cost after tax and shipping was probably $4.25 or something each.

Though, it's gonna take a while to go through all 30... even if my friend takes some for his two CRVs and own Fit (actually, one CRV is his father's, but he'd did the oil change for him).

Just check my Walmart last night and got more accurate pricing. The M1 5qt Jugs excluding the extended performance were $26.82. Apparently ConocoPhillips makes Honda Synthetic Blend 5w20 so the Motorcraft 5w20 Synthetic Blend SHOULD be somewhat similar because ConocoPhillips makes that as well and that was only $17.74 for a 5qt jug. Also, Pennzoil Platinum 5qt jugs were $24.82. Auto parts stores can't really touch these prices unless they're having an oil change special.

yah, that's a good idea to keep your eyes open for walmart's sale cause ive bought the same 5qt jugs a year or so ago at $20 each. earlier this summer it was down to $22 or something.

I'm pretty sure Honda's 0w20 is the same as Kendalls GT-1 Fully Synthetic 0w20. The bottles are identical but I haven't found a VOA for each to compare.

Honda 0w20

Kendall GT-1

If you can find the Kendall for cheap enough I'd say go with it.
