Washing My Fit
Washing My Fit
OK, SO I'M IN LOVE WITH MY FIT...(PICKED IT UP LAST SAT.!) But after 1 wk, I've already noticed it will soon need to be washed. Exactly what is the safest & best way to wash your FIT? I might actually prefer to hand wash it.....??? What topical agents should I use? Any suggestions?
right now, i'm using
simonez car wash with carnumba wax
mibrofiber wash mitt (looks like a big blue monster on ur hand lol)
dry it off with microfiber towels
and get tire and rim cleaner and then tire shine

Don't use a microfiber mitt.. The material is too thin and if you catch onto peice of sand, it doesnt pull it in, it sits on the surface and becomes part of your mitt scratching your car. Get a Chenelle mitt at walmart for about $3.
Start with the rims. Use a soft brush or a soft sponge pad. I bought a bag of sponges at big lots for $1. Rinse the rim, use car wash soap and scrub it clean. When you are done with the rims, make sure you still have good soap in the bucket then wipe the wheel wells and the underside of the body all around the car. When you are done, rinse it off. Grab a bottle of tire shine.. spray it onto all 4 tires and avoid getting it onto the paint or it will kill it. Let it sit for about a minute, then rinse it off the tire. Toss the soapy water and set up two buckets.. one for the soap and one for plain water.. lift all the winshield wipers up. pre-rinse the car.. then start scrubbing using as little pressure as possible.. Let the grease on the soap do the work. Start from the top of the car. work in sections and rinse the soap off as soon as you're done with a large section. when all is washed, get a PVA drying sponge (feels like rubber) and wet it with fresh water, squeeze out some of the water but leave some so it will still glide across your car without skipping.. start wiping your car down to dry with it. If you see a small spot of water, leave it.. when you are all done, go over it with a microfiber cloth and maguire's detailer spray. Spray it over any water spots that has dried up, then wipe. I usually blow into the door opener hinges to get the water to fall out so i can wipe it. Once car is spot free, I use Black Magic's Tire Shine (foam).. Spray it onto the tires and use the sponge to spread it onto the sidewall of the tires. If you accidentally get any spray onto the paint, squirt it with maguire's detailer spray and use the microfiber cloth to wipe it off the car's paint. When it is all done, you still need to dry the rims, use any kind of rag or towel to dry.
Then Wax it. New cars don't come waxed so protect it ASAP.
Additionals:
I always keep about two microfiber towels in the car along with the detailer spray. If theres bird crap or yellow stains, I just give it a spray, count to 10, then wipe it off with the towel. Or if theres water or dirt splash onto the body kit, I do the same. As the car gets dustier, I avoid doing it as you end up sloshing the dirt around and risk scratch the car. That's when I wash it instead. And if you're really bored like I am, I applied VERY CAREFULLY (not to hit the paint) the tire foam onto the side door's rubber that houses the windows.. Now it looks super shiny and is protected. Just today I did the same for the winshield wiper's housing rubber (not the wiper blade itself).
Take photograph of yourself and car in a proud pose.
Enjoy.
