Another fill up today. I didn't reset my trip odometer last week and the comp read 38.6. Manual calculation was 35.6, so that was about 3 mpg difference. Good mileage though.

Just got my 09 Fit Sport AT yesterday. I've been averaging 36 MPG so far. Mixture of both city and highway. Good shit.

35.7MPG - 50/50 city highway- Went to an apple festival in Charlottesville, VA. Gas was $2.85 when I filled up!

I just got back from my 250 mile round trip to Harrisonburg, VA! Holy Sheets! 46.6 MPG. This was measured at the pump. The guage read 46.4 MPG!

This is amazing because I was using cruise control at 65MPH through hills and even Afton mountain. This pretty much kicks the crap outta my Yaris! I use manual mode and paddle shift into 5th, then hit the cruise. To get numbers like this in my Yaris I would have to use some hypermiling techniques. The best I can do with cruise in my Yaris is about 40-42MPG. I have the aftermarket cruise control installed. (Rostra).

I need to trade in my Yaris!!!!!!! My wife wont let me!!!!

How do you get over 11 gallons in your fit? I run my Fit to the bottom of the empty line and I'm only able to get 10.1 - 10.4 gallons in it. I guess there is more gas than I think when I'm at empty... How far below empty line are you going? Is there some technique to getting more gas in pipe above tank?

I just got my first 400 mile tank with my MT. It was all highway with some hills (about 80% running at 72 mph).

gas tanks are 10 some odd gallons but what everone
forget is that the fits have long filler neck.
this allows to pump in way more.
just be carful you guys don't over do it
when calculating MPG. you will get bad
results.

You don't want to be filling the neck in any case. It'll make the purge canister lose its mind.....
One more reason to trust the trip-o-meter rather for relative if not absolute mileage; probably more accurate.

Dude.. 1st tank.. we were in a gas shortage here in Atlanta... I honestly don't know how it kept running... I hit over a dozen gas stations till I found one that actually had gas... 11.9 was the true number.

The other 2, I waited till the fuel light came on, then filled up. Yes I know... you'e not supposed to fill to the top but.. It's a habit hard to break. It would not surpise me that you could get 1+ gal in that long pipe.

I dunno but it IS happening.. 11 + on each fillup so far. And I'm getting the distance to confirm it. 3 - 400+ mile tanks so far.

I'm taking it on vacation this week. It will be interesting to see how 2 people and luggage on cruise control affect it on the highway..

I just wish the "BSM" was being honest!

Let me throw this one at you guys -

Like everyone else here, I have seen a fairly consistent 10% (give or take) difference between the Fit's gauge and calculated mileage. But this last tank was different.

I filled up my tank at my usual gas station. Filled it up as far as possible, as I always do. Put 343 miles on the car and with a little over 1/4 left in the tank, filled up again putting as much in the tank as I could. That was 7.2 gals. Manual calc would put that at 47.6 mpg. Gauge read 44.8 (typical for the kind of driving that I do - zero city driving, all country roads).

Upside down from what I have seen in the past. Thoughts?

Were you reading your notes upside down? lol. JK.

Question...did you reset the tripodometer the last time you filled up? If not the computer obviously would average your mpg from the last time you did, while your manual calculation was only for the last tank.

Sure did. I've been watching my mpg for years and have a habit of always resetting trip mileage & writing it down on the gas receipt before I drive away from the pump. Then, when I get home, I file that receipt away with all of my maint. info. You see, i've got this ongoing spreadsheet...well, maybe I'm even a little OCD.

Umm... based on what you normally get for mileage.. I'm guessing thats a 1.4 gal difference... umm... same pump? Maybe U got a gift from the station?

I'll be intersted to see what you get THIS tank

Same pump. But you're headed in the only direction that I could come up with - perhaps that pump was out of calibration either before or after my prior tanks.

I'm interested about this tank as well. I plan to use the same pump and see what I get. If it is high again, then the following tank I'll try a different pump and see what the results are. IOW, try to figure out if it s a pump related result...

First tank indicated 33.1; calculated at 31.9. I can live with a 1.2 mpg error...
My previous mileage minders tended to straddle the calculated average.

As for getting significantly more fuel into the tank than it is supposed to hold, my bullshit alarm is buzzing...NOT at you posters, for I'm sure you're reporting what the pump said.
I'm thinking the stations are picking up some profit by pumping short gallons...doesn't piss off the consumer as much as raising the price per gallon even more. Kinda the same principle as making the candy bar smaller and not raising the price as much.
I have NEVER had a gastank take more than the tank's stated capacity, and I've run 'em pretty dry from time to time. Remember, if the thing is still running, there has to be a fair amount still in the tank, and most gas gauges are wildly pessimistic...from the car companies' view, an out of gas customer is an unhappy customer, so they err on the side of caution.
