Our first partial tank on the drive home from the dealer and some local shopping trips (~250 miles) was an indicated 40, actual 36. And that was driving above the limit on the highway with (oops!) underinflated tires (thanks, dealer!) for about 230 of those miles.

My first tank was mostly interstate driving (on I-81 thru Virginia and Pennsylvania) and it got 40.1 (calculated) or 44.1 (indicated). I'm now about halfway thru my second tank, and it's indicating 44.4, so probably really about 40.4 . Either way, I'm happy !!!!!!!!

what i'm wondering about now is , if the fuel mileage calculation odometer is wrong , then is the odometer wrong also counting more miles than we actually are driving , and therefore warranty over sooner ? my fuel calc after 2 months agree 3-4 mpg off

It's just the fuel mileage calculator that is wrong. The odometer and speedometer are both right on the money. I checked both of them against my GPS on the trip back from Virginia. Honda got stung once before with odometers that were accumulating mileage too fast and they are not about to let that happen again.

First tank took 7.815 gallons. The trip that I set at the dealership when I got the car was 283.20 = 36.24 MPG. If I go off the miles on the car 300 = 38.39

I'll have a more accurate reading on this one. Either way my MPG readout on the car said 31.5 MPG. That was way wrong.

3rd tank of gas, indicated = 41.0, hand calculated = 36.5, no interstate driving on this tank (9.2 gal). First two tanks averaged 40.0 hand calculated (44.1 indicated) and were almost totally interstate driving. OR, 5MT, love the car !!!!!

Just came back from Vegas.

L.A. to Vegas with 3 people, luggage, AC and mostly steady incline = 41 comp / 37 man.

Return trip with just me, AC and mostly steady decline but some high winds = 45.9 comp. No manual calculation yet as I just used a half tank. But I have 277 miles at just past half tank. Interesting what the manual calculation will be once I fill up.

just did another fill up on the way home from work.
411.5 miles 9.749 gallons = 42.209 MPG
computers said 49.2
i was amazed it was this far off. i though 49-4=45mpg
nope not the case here. i guess i babied it to much and fool
the computer to much.

so to this day the computer has been 6 mpg off
on me all the way down to 2.5 mpg off.
they really need to fix this

what's the minimal amount of gas that will indicate a full tank?

im still on my first tank (dealer provided of course) so i dont know how much was in the tank.

when i got to half a tank i had 172 miles.
mixed driving.
computer said 33.8 mpg.
for that to be correct, that means i burned 5.1 gallons of fuel.

i suspect ive burned more than that

the tank holds 10.9 gallons, right??

watch.... i'll be the only one on the planet with an accurate computer, but have the worst actual mileage.

First of all, the computer is off by about 4mpg give or take. So it would be a bit more (5.7 roughly). Also, I've found the gauge to be a bit off. It seems to drop faster after halfway. I went 402.4 and was able to put 9.62 in the tank. The fuel light went on at approx 370 so there was just over a gallon left when I stopped.

thanks for the info.
i wonder if the gauge actually drops off faster after half a tank or if it's an illusion.

on my old car, on a full tank, i'd go 50 miles before it stopped reading "full."
so the first 1/4 tank "seemed" to burn a lot longer than the final 1/4 tank.

The S2000 gas gauge was notoriously unpredictable. It just about dropped to nothing very quickly after hitting about 1/3 of a tank. I would sometimes leave home with an indicated 1/4 of a tank and be on E a mile down the road. So Honda doesn't have a good record with me. Neither did our Subaru, though. You could watch that needle drop with an average of 16mpg, though

My last tank, I got 32.4 mpg on a mix of city/hwy driving. My best tank has been about 36 mpg on mostly highway. My trip computer is overly generous, and gives me numbers about 3-4 mpg higher. I'm happy with the mpg, I just wish my tank was a little bigger so I could get more range.

09 MT Sport. Been getting about 36-39 mpg (calculated). The computer reads about 40-43 mpg. About 4 mpg optimistic. Most of my driving is 80% highway/20% city. Average highway speed of 75 mph.

Only got 31MPG on my first fill up. The computer said 34MPG. I'm hoping to do a lot better this tank. I was doing lots of stop and go driving, and many short trips, so I wasn't expecting it to be too high.
