Problem with my Dome Lights?

Hi everyone!
I've had my fit for a week now and it's only now occuring to me that when I open the door, or unlock via the keyless that the dome light doesn't seem to go on. Is this normal?

There's a switch up on the dome light itself. Be sure that is switched on.

If you leave it switched to on, won't it stay on even when the car is off and drain the battery?

There are three positions for the dome light switch: On, Off, and Door. In "Door" mode, it will come on and go off when the door is opened/closed. It will also come on when you unlock the doors and when you turn off the key; it will gradually fade and go out by itself.

Didn't have time to post all that at the time, figured if we pointed him in the right direction he could figure the rest out. Pretty typical setup with the dome switch here OP......Thanks for laying it all out for us Ando.
