slightly hot air in vent

This weekend I noticed the AC wasn't quite as cool as I expected. Since I have only owned the car for a week, I thought it was normal, especially when the ambient temps were pretty hot in my area.

I also noticed that the incoming air with no AC and the recycle lever set to allow outside air is always a little warm. As a former mechanic it either seemed like it is poor design or a heater core flap not shut all the way.

I found this thread from another guy with the same problem.

My question is, do any of you know the best way to access the flap on page #2? I don't want to spend a ton of time searching if someone has already ran into this and fixed it.

thanks

I can flush out the hot air and it still goes back to being warm. Even when the ambient temps are cool, it is warmer than it should be. This coincides with AC temps that are a little off too.

We just bought 2 fits. 1 just a month ago, and the other one, last Friday. The first one has this problem, and I was driving around thinking, "gee, this car is hot". Changing to recirc helps, and you can feel a temp. difference of air coming out of the vent. The 2nd fit is not bad at all...maybe slightly warm air.

Hopefully someone found a solution, but it sure sounds like the temp. vent is not closed all the way, since it obviously is not a thermostat control.

Not with A/C on

Just using the fan to push air. It appears that the vent is not closing all the way to block the warm air.

TBQH, the Fit just doesn't have very good AC. I drive my girlfriends TSX from time to time, and it will spit out ICE COLD air on a 100 degree day like nothing.
