I've got some new 15" wheels comming and can't decide what to wrap them in. I'd like to keep overall diameter close to stock, 195-50-15, 195-55-15, 205-50-15. I'd also like a summer tire that can handle some wet conditions, I'll put the stock ones back on for the winter months.
I'm comming from a big 4x4 with mud tires so I don't know squat about passenger tires and would like some reviews from Fit drivers.
Post up your experience with your tires and please include the size you use. ie Dry traction, Wet traction, Tread wear, Noise, anything else that can help me decide.

I'm looking for a summer tire in either 205/50 if i go with 15s or 205/45 if i go with 16s.

What is the best bang for the buck?

 

Did you see the pic of the FIT with 20's? how does that steer or is it just to put on display??

I've been driving my base model storm silver for about a month now, and just took it on a long drive back and forth from Pittsburgh, so I have about 2K miles on it now. So I'm driving through Astoria and I turn a corner...POP! Huge loud noise. I'm imagining the worst...but I had no idea what the hell I could have hit. Next thing I know, I feel the wobbliness and the vibrations...flat tire!! I must have run over something really sharp (my boyfriend thinks it had to do with the sewer drainage things they have on the street...that it's common to run over them and blow out a tire).

So...I go to Costco, naive enough to think I can find my tire there. They don't carry Dunlops anyway, so the guy sends me to a Goodyear dealer. They have Dunlops but not that model or size, it's way too new. He calls around, no one has 'em. So I go to a Honda dealer. He sends me to a tire guy...and he finds one in Indiana and it's being shipped here, to get here by Friday. Thank God I don't have any big trips to make over the next few days. What a pain...the disadvantages of a new car, when your tires just aren't readily available!

Been seeing more Fits on the road....through Pennsylvania I saw a new Fit Sport owner in silver....then, as I was going through the EZPass for the George Washington Bridge, I pulled up right behind another storm silver sport!! I drove behind it for quite a while, it was a hoot!

And now there's a black base model in my neighborhood that I pass all the time. I also got excited when I saw a Blaze Orange parked in the Hamptons heehee!

 

you know you have a limited warranty on the tires right? if the blowout was not caused by any debri it should be covered and you get a new tire.

 

Is there a way to prove it wasn't caused by debris? I most definitely ran over something sharp...even the guy at the gas station who changed my tire could tell.

I don't believe the original limited warranty covers road hazards.

 

Tire warranty covers material defects du to construction. hitting debris is not covered.

 

Kumho Ecsta AST Tire, size 205/45R16, inflated to 36PSI, driven mostly on well maintained highways at 65-75 mph.
Purchased new from TireRack on 06/02/06 and also purchased their Road Hazard Program.
No loss in tire pressure since discovering this yesterday. Problem?

36PSI? the sticker inside the car suggests 32PSI so it isn't that much more

 

yeah but the tire is like a bubble.. so it becomes more prone to pop and bulges out with the more air thats put into it.

 

if they feel that you over-inflated, and it cracked the sidewall, no road hazard is going to cover that
