Some people just want the best dry handling tire they can get. Others are moreworried about tread life and wet traction. That is why there are so many choices.

Yeah! Like I said . I would love to have the toyo A1R, but since I do care about wet traction and cost/tread life I vote for the khumo (KU15). Like you said there are many options, is just to what is important to each at buying time.

The link references that losing 1 psi a montha dn 3-4 over 3-4 months is normal.. norhting about 24 per month being normal?

especially in hotter states, like cali, where the original poster is from. hotter tems, hotter tires, constantly heating and cooling, 2-4 pretty normal. hell here in ga, i got close to 5psi/mo can also dependent on the tire compound, payloads, etc.

you could try filling the tire with nitrogen i think it was... but one of those other gases out there works really well too....

yup, most luxury car shops do it. the only problem is if you get a nail teh tire blows. high pressure gas = bad.

Compressed air is already 80% nitrogen, 95% percent is what is needed for tires to see no pressure losses plus the lack of moisture helps the tire last longer. We installed a system at the dealership and all 07s(except Fit and Civics get it. Race teams have been using it for years.

Stock tires ride like lead!!

The only thing I don't like about my new Fit is that the stock Dunlop 15" tires ride like lead. Rough , rough, rough!!!! Has anybody else noticed it and have you changed them out for a better ride?

What is your PSI for the tires? I'd check your air pressure to make sure it isn't too high

I don't mind the ride of the stock tires myself so I haven't swapped out my tires. I did check the Consumer Reports website for you, however. For a good tire across the board (except for ice braking) that rates excellent in ride comfort and impact absorption, CR recommends the Hankook Mileage Plus II H725.

When I replace my tires it will be with CRs top rated performance tire -- the Falken Ziex ZE 512. We have been using these tires on our other vehicles and they are very good to excellent across the board. They are relatively cheap as well (see Edge Racing). They don't rate as highly on comfort as the Hankooks though.

Another good tire is the Bridgestone Potenza RE950. Im on my second set and I am very satisfied with them. Dry grip is good and the wet grip is amongst the best of any tire Ive ever owned. Another thing I like about this tire is the road noise- or lack thereof. Its an excellent tire for everyday driving. I dont think they make it anymore though, youd have to look at the RE960, and I havent driven on that one yet, but if its anything like the 950 then Im sold.

You could have the tires checked. Losing 4 lbs is quite a bit.

^ or go 205/50 and the closest match I can find to the OEM diameter (in 15s) 215/50, which are pretty rare but tire rack has some advertised.
If you want more comfort go to more tire not less tire. Downside is you may hurt milage a little bit.

How wide is too wide?

I've been using this calculator:
http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Assuming stock is 195/55/16 15x5, how wide is too wide? I plan to lower about 1 inch. There are no configurations that are exactly the right width, so I'm trying to figure out what size tires I get if i get 16x7 inch rims.
205/45/16?

Thanks for your input.

That's not the exact same dimensions as the stock...so its going to jack up the speedo according to that website.
