I am getting the tires refunded and I already went ahead and sent the customer off with a set of new Toyo tires to keep him happy. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

Another question:
What tire are you guys all running on 16's? Brand? Specs? I've built about three Fit's at the dealership already, and this is the first with the problem. (I've used both 205/40/16 and a 205/45/16). It could also just be a tire defect. But also, I heard that some vehicles react differently to uni-directional tires.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
Whenever you run directional tires, you run the risk of a tire-directional pull. The part that suxs is you can't rotate it side-to-side without dismounting/remounting to rim.
I'm running P205/55r15 Dunlop Direzza's and they're the BEST performance tire I've felt yet!
I've seen non-directional tires have radial-pulls too so there's really no way to TOTALLY elliminate it... 99% of the time, Goodyear's don't have these issues. I've seen more issues with other brands.

When I purchased my 16" HFP upgrade, the dealer looked up the recommend tire - Bridgestone RE750's I believe (don't have the car yet). I was happy with this choice, since it looks like a close cousin of the RE50's that the current S2000 comes with, which perform very well with decent tire life.

195/50r16's

maybe the 205's are large enough to cuase road pull in the lanes. you know the divets that occur on high traffic roads?

AFAIK, nitrogen just isnt as effected by fluctuations in ambient temp as "regular air' is.

Regular air consists of 75% nitrogen anyway...

I suggest it. Only downside of putting it in is its not cheap. My job charges $25 but once its put in refills are free.
I got it free since I work there.

I noticed a 2 mpg difference in my Mx6 and I didnt even go through my whole tank.

I read in the costco FAQ that it will reduce the rate of loosing air pressure as compared with air. But then it all goes out the door once I start putting regular air a few months later.

yeah the atoms are larger and they dont leak as much as regular air does, so your tire pressure stays constant

Running nitrogen. Holds the pressure for longer. Only have to check the pressure annually but once you fill with nitrogen you have to top up with nitrogen otherwise it defeats the purpose. Checkups and refills are free. Pressure also doesn't fluctuate as much between when the tyres are hot and cold.

They claim that it gives better milage but I've found it much of a muchness. I suppose if the pressure isn't going down then your not suffering from decreased milage from incorrect pressure between checks. Likewise the claims about better braking and steering are just that the pressure is correct I think.

Nitrogen is used at Costco for all their tires-

I can get tires rotated and air added every 5000 miles at costco.

Does it make that much difference for me? Not really. Nothing that I can tell.

It's not that widely available in my area yet.

so is it true that nitrogen is lighter than air? so in theory the wheel aired with regular air would be heavier than a nitrogen filled tire?

Nitrogen is used in tires SOLELY for reducing fluctuations in tire pressure due to temperature.

It's not used because it smells good, looks pretty, or makes the tire lighter (Sliver, the difference in weight would be negligible!)

Of course, you SHOULD check your tire pressure every couple weeks, regardless.

I've never checked on having my tires nitrogen filled, but given I have a tire gauge and a compressor at home, it's not a major inconvenience to me to check my tires and air them up myself.

Actually air consists of 78.05% Nitrogen, 20.95% Oxygen, and about 1% trace gases, mostly Argon.

It is in mine from day one. You also have less moisture build up inside the tire which can in crease life of the tire. We put it in all of our new 07s.
