sold mine for $400 plus shipping, no tires

 

Who are buying them, non Sport owners? How did you go about selling them?

I have a sport. I bought a Sport set wheels/tires with 1900 miles on them for $320.

I bought them to have so that when my originals wear out, I can put winter or autocross tires on them, and run the set that I bought for everyday driving.

I'm planning on getting 17x7" wheels with a +42 offset. I think something that really needs to be considered is the width of the tire also.

I'm going to go with Nitto Neo Gens (205/40/17) that have a tire width of 8.35". Some tires in the same exact size are 8.4" or 8.5" widths and that little bit of difference can really be the difference between rubbing and not.

What width are your tires TeamEMC and avudedtr?

Don't have tires picked yet, looking for Ideas I don't want to Rub, I was also planning on a Lowering Spring kit, But would like a good match between the two so that i don't waste time and money.

So far a slight rub in the rear end but i do have all 4 of the stock rims back there. i'll let ya know when i take them out.

Hmmm... that doesn't sit well for me ordering 17's with that tire size as I had planned. I looked up the with the BF tires you have and they are about 8.1" which means the 8.35" wide tires I was planning on will rub even more.

Wow...stock ride height and you're rubbing!!!???

 

OK so i took the stock tires out of the car and drove it around and it still rubs slightly. Seems to happen sometimes when going over big bumps on the highway or sudden grade changes. I live in the a rural area where there are alot of these types of conditions.

Seems to be happening more in the rear because the rear end sits lower than the front to begin with.

For the most part it is good to go. I am going to try and remove some of the lip in the rear with a dremmel and see how that goes.

Edit: going to be crappy weather tomorrow so i will try to get some good pics up on sunday.

 

anyone running a wider tire on the stock sport wheels? I was thinking of trying out a better tire in a 205/50/15. any thoughts?

 

I beleive that a 205/50/15 will work fine on the factory sport wheels. Is your car lowered? If so you might get some rubbing on hard bumps and hard cornering. If is not lowered you will be fine. I have my car on eibach pro springs and just ordered some flat black buddy club p-1 sf wheels in a 15x6.5 with a +40 offset. Im sticking with the 195/55/15 tire size because I don't want any issues with rubbing. Also don't want to roll my fenders. Tires I bought are the BFGoodrich G-force's. Can't wait to get my rims and tires. Anyway you should be fine with the 205/50/15. Good luck

Im going crazy with this rubbing issue and have not wheels yet. I was hoping for lightweight 18's but what the hell, people having problem with 17's eh...
You seem to have correct offset BTW! now im scared to spend $2000 on some volks or Gram lights and have rubbing issues.

 

Thanks! I weighed the packing material and subtracted it from the package weight that ups statd and i got 15lbs per rim. Prety darn good. Thats 2+ pounds lighter than the HFP's i had.

Tomorrow i am going to jack up the rear end and shave down the lip inside the rear wheel well. Hopefully that will take car of it.

All in all i drove on the highway today 50 miles each way and no rubbing whatsoever. It only seems to be happening with sudden grade changes in the road surface.

 

I had planned on doing wheels and alittle drop, but the more I think about it the more I lean towards paying this off and saving for my next project car. Coming from a stage 4 wrx its hard to mod something thats not gonna be faster, but I needed a better daily driver

I was at the tire shop again today, the guys there say it's pretty easy to roll the inner lip up the grind the paint off and put on some POR on then let that dry and then spray it with undercoating. I'm probably going this week to get some wheels and going to have to do the same thing....

 

Hey man, I work for subaru so I see my share of fast subbie's. I also own one. A 02 wrx in the ultra rare blaze yellow. Well, its more of the wife's car. Anyway, I personally think the fit has a lot of potential. But, if you need a good daily driver it fits the job as well. Basiclly it comes down to what you want to do. I would love to make mine faster to compete agains cars like the wrx. Its all about money and time. Also who you know. Well at least you have the fit and it won't burn a hole in your wallet for gas like the rex did!
