Door courtesy light won't work in "door" mode

Base model 08 Fit, manual tranny, 75,000 miles.

The light works fine when you turn the switch to ON. I thought it might have been the driver's door plunger, but it does not light up when you put it in "door" mode, no matter which door you open.

Anyone else go through this? And what was your solution?

Did this just happen or has it been finicky for a while? I know that the dome light has two wires coming out of the interior fuse box (pink and green in the top left corner) but have you checked fuse 22 for Small Light?

Only had the car since June and the light never worked in "door" mode since I got it. It has been fiddled/riced with electrically, with an aftermarket alarm that opens and closes all the door locks, and an aftermarket stereo, (big video screen, but cheap no-name brand), cheapo HID kit (that I removed and replaced to stock). There are several taps into wires coming out of the fuse box, but otherwise everything else works fine except the overhead light on "door".

Anyhow, thanks for the tips for a starting point. I'll check it out when I get home.

Got an update to this, and the news is not particularly good. I had a pro mechanic check all the circuits from all the door plungers and they are all solid. This leaves us with the lighting control module itself, which is coded at the dealership. Maybe it's bad or maybe all it needs is a reflash? I don't even know where that sucker is located. Are all the CANBUS modules located in the same part of the car? or are they scattered here and there?

A bit of a late reply but...

It appears that the gauge control module is what is controlling the dome light when set to the door setting. One thing you might want to check before doing anything with the gauge module would be checking the wire that connects it to the dome light. This wire goes from connection A12 on the gauge module to F16 on the under-dash fuse panel, then out on L2 to the dome light. It is allegedly green/red the whole way. All of this info is from the 2007 manual, but I suspect it applies to the 2008 as well. Seems like it is worth checking especially since you say the car had/has many electrical mods.
