im buying a Fit by the end of this month, i have my money all set, and have an eye on the sport model, but what the difference between the GE and GD like i seen pictures of Fits and i do notice differences in the body and other stuff but which is which, im confused a little and want to make the right choice when buying the car.

 

"GD" and "GE" are chassis codes... and as in the alphabet, E comes after D, the 1st Gen Fits are GD and the 2nd Gen is GE.

If you look at the main page of the forum, you should've seen the section headers

1st Generation (GD 01-08)
2nd Generation (GE 08-present)

The thing about the "08" is, in Japan, they had GEs in 2008, but NA (North America) didn't get it until 2009. So, for NA... 2007 and 2008 are GDs while 2009, 2010 and 2011 are GEs. When the 2012s come out, they're most likely GEs too (takes a while before the next chassis comes out). When Honda does a chassis change, the letter will most likely be GH (if it follows the series).

When you're looking at cars, the chassis code is part of the VIN... for example, the GE should start

JHMGE8... (etc)

 

i know what chassis codes are( EK9, EG6, EP3, EM1.... you get it ) and ok thank you , another question , is there a difference in the sport trim then the base trim, i would hope so right???? and im looking to buy newer aswell, is there any main changes made to the 2011 from 2010 fit sport???

 

if you look at the link I gave you, you can see the feature set that honda lists on their specs page (put different year models in different windows and put those side-by-side to compare.

 

Thanks bro, another question.. can you tell if a GE8 is sport or non sport by looking at the vin #
