Personally I'd like to stay with the original Honda concept: a naturally aspirated and only slightly larger 200+hp engine, powering a lightweight 2000lb. car. 6 speeds sounds great too!
The Lotus only has a 1.8L Toyota engine, but at ~2000lb it screams. No reason why the Honda version couldn't do the same trick! It's sad that companies like Lotus are beating Honda at their own game - now that Honda's price point has risen so high... I can get a 2005 Lotus Elise with around 10k miles for as much as a new s2000 ($35k), and have WAY more fun driving the Lotus. So sad, but so true. Heck, I can get a nice BMW 2002 Z3 coupe with low miles for around $20k that blows the s2000 away.
When you can get an Evo X for as much as a Honda, things are not looking so great for Honda. Why not get back to basics instead of producing all these overweight mid-size cars? Since when was the Civic a big car? I don't really want to buy a Subaru WRX wagon either, but at around $25k what better choice does Honda give me? Let Acura dominate the mid to large car market, and let's see some economy performance cars from Honda again!!!
