Headlamp lens removal

Folks, hello. My son decided he wanted to remove the lenses on the '08 Fit to give the interior light a good cleaning. OK, I said. We started prowling about the lenses and I decided a trip to YouTube was in order. But I didn't find anything specific to removing just a lens; the videos all detailed how to remove the headlight assembly.

Can anyone provide some insight into this before I break a big piece of plexiglass? Thanks.

The entire headlight is fused together on the factory.

You can put them in the oven or use a heat gun. Either way you have to be careful.

I have used the oven method far more than the heat gun but success with both. Are you sure you need to take them apart to clean them? If they are hazy or yellow its probably just on the outside.

This is good advice, and thank you both. No, I am not sure I need to remove the lens -- and have decided not to do it. It ain't broke, or not broke enough, to attempt this. I will urge my son to find something else to fix. Thanks.

Yea, If the lenses are yellowed or foggy, the outside of the lens can be cleaned, wet-sanded and polished to restore them. I just did mine the other day, they look brand new now.
