Window issue
Window issue
Hi folks,
I just bought a 2008 Honda Fit Sport from a good friend of mine. He's owned the vehicle since new and it has been well maintained.
When I took it for a test drive I tried all the windows. He said the driver side rear wasn't working, but lo and behold it went down! Then of course it wouldn't go back up. Go figure!
I checked the fuses, good.
I checked the connection to the door switch, good.
I checked for power from the switch with a test lamp, no power. I'm guessing the main switch is bad.
My friend confirmed he had all the recall work done including the master switch.
So....I'm super busy right now and have a window stuck in the "down" position.
There must be a way to jump the motor to get the window up until I have time to fix the switch?
I'm very mechanical so I'm sure I can get the door panel off and access the motor. But electronics are not my forte, if anyone can explain "in layman's terms" how I can jumper the motor on his that would be fantastic. I have two small alligator clip jumper wires, hopefully these will do.
thanks!
Mark

Well I happen to have some 12 volt supplies and can see where I can attach the jumpers. Will it be obvious which pins/connectors I attach to on the motor? I'm assuming there will be several options, I don't want to attach to the wrong ones and fry something.
thanks,
Mark
I think it's even possible without taking the door apart.
Rad the thread https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...xperience.html and find the photos of the exposed switch
Carefully read warning how not to break switch cover plate while removing armrest cover
Unplug 20 pin connector from the master switch and locate red-yellow and red-black wires (these colors are not repeating, so this should not be impossible) (female pins # 6 and 7)
To close the glass (go up) apply + to red-black wire and - to the red-yellow wire
Try this and report back

Oh, so I'm applying power to driver door not passenger door? I was preparing to tear the passenger door panel off.

Sorry I missed word rear
this one is easier
)
remove armrest cover form affected door and unplug harness from the switch (5 pin terminal)
to close, apply plus to terminal 1 (red -white) and minus to terminal 5 (blue-black)

Wow that totally worked, thank you!
