Can someone tell me what this piece is that fell off my car?

My daughter was driving our 2007 Fit and heard this piece fall off. It's solid steel. Can anyone tell me what it is? Some kind of hook? Thanks!

Looks like part of your coil spring.

Yeah that definitely looks like a broken coil spring... id take a look and see if you (or a shop) can find what spring broke and get it replaced.

A similar thing happened to a friends Ford - and the spring became dislodged from the suspension and ruined a brand new tire.

It may not even be from your car. It may have lodged into the chassis from driving over it. Or you just ran over it. It looks a tad big to be a Fit part.

Thank all. I had a look under the back and the springs look fine there. Sorry for the stupid question but are there coil springs in the front and if so, how do I see them? Can't see by looking under car. Does it need to go on a lift?

Thanks.

Yes, it has front coil springs. Easiest way to see them is turn the wheels to the lock and look in the wheel well.

Thanks all. Just to update, it was the front coil spring. Mechanic has been waiting on the part for nearly a week now (apparently it's hard to find) but should be fixed this week.

Funny, I found the exact same piece of the coil on my driveway this week. Sure enough front driver side is broken. Seems like it is hard to find OEM springs, going to get H&R all around.

I just finished up a replacement project on the front and rear shocks with these: https://ksportusa.com/product/honda-...honda-fit-2008

My Fit had ~202,000 miles on the originals.

Pile of old parts here:

Nice, are you taking the car to the track? How is the ride. I've ordered SWIFT lowering coil springs, but the wait in Canada is 20-25 days ;(

No, I'm not taking it to the track.. The kit was described as aggressive street driving or novice track. I just wanted a tighter suspension all around. To be honest, I drive around this round-about and I just hated the lean/sway the car would have going around it - at normal speeds! Good reason to upgrade :-).

Looks like you have an excuse to get some lowering springs.
