What is this mysterious this part is used for!!? near rear subframe
HI! Owned my '07 FIt sport for 7 years now. Quite rusty underneath, lots of rust around the end of a bar that is screwed with a bolt right beside the rear subframe mounting point. To situate where that mysterious piece of bar is....start at the end of the big bolt of the subframe which is viewed in the rear wheel well. On the bottom of the wheel well is another smaller bolt and nut that attaches to that roughly 6inch long bar (my mystery part) that goes from the wheel well up to a inch or 2 past the subframe mounting point. There it is held by a bolt in the unibody frame. Lots of rust and flex and that area, fairly rotted. Sorry no pic avail right now. So there is that bar on the right and left side, 2 small bars! What is their purpose, as a frame stiffener? They are stock parts. Searched hi and low on the net, even in my CD repair manual. Clueless!! As well, how important is that if it not as strong as new. The thick steel surrounding the rear subframe mounting point is solid however. Thanks for any clues!

Hey, thanks for answering! So I guess they play no structural role in strengthening? The support brackets are there only in case you want to remove the swing arm, then you can rest the swing arm on those brackets for easier removal or installation, kinda gives you a break before aligning for the bolt holes and the bolt. Is that it?
Thanks,
Frank
