Talking Starter noise after cold start revisiting

For those who are still intersected in finding a root cause of this issue instead of ignoring it or installing painted POS with "lifetime [trouble] warranty"
Today the temps were in low 40s and I think i heard a brief screech after engine started, meaning the issue is coming back (had no noise for 3 years)
I used high mileage starter with aftermarket solenoid (That uses dry plastic sleeve around plunger)
However during installation I placed black rubber plunger end cover which is getting hard and stiff during the cold weather and may cause delay in plunger return
If issue persists I will take it out and see if it makes a difference (1 hour fun with starter R and R, but I like to work on car, you know!)
I will also test the overrunning clutch by holding key in for 2 seconds after engine starts; defective clutch will make a hell of noise)
Other possibility is dirt or or step wear on the starter pinion shaft

I'm following this thread . . . but it's like a scary movie. I'm afraid, very afraid.

I went ahead, took my starter out and installed the starter drive from newly re-furbished Denso reman. for Honda starter from the Junk yard Let's see if this will support my newest theory!
