I've got a 2008 Fit sport that is having a heck of a time getting on the good side of the tracks. Last week I had my starter fail on the car. I purchased a remanned starter from O'Reilly's and upon startup there was a horrid screaming noise, can't necessarily say it sounded metallic. After asking a few people I was told the starter was junk and I needed to replace it. I purchased a new one from rock auto and put it in last night. The noise is still here.

I'm starting to think maybe it's not the starter anymore and something else was disturbed in the process of getting it out. I have attached a link to a post with the noise. appreciate any insight to this.

Maybe loosen up you alternator and remove your drive belt belt/ fan belt and start the engine. If it still happens the starter may not be disengaging after the engine starts. If it goes away might be the Idler pulley if it is more like a whine
