Consumer Reports Annual Car Issue has a Fit

on the front, and of course they highly recommend it. That's the 3rd or 4th time this year that they have mentioned the Fit. If anyone had money to buy cars they'd be disappearing like the last of the '08s did.

Of course the Insight is ready to roll out, too, so...the Fit might not be everyone's first choice from here on out.

Just thought I'd let y'all know.

CR factored when I bought my 08 Fit late last summer. The Civic was the other top car, which I test drove as well. The Fit just fit better.

I was surprised to see that the competition - Yaris - did so poorly.

CR messed things up for me...I didn't know I wanted a Fit at all, was still looking at used Camrys and new Rav4s, then finally once I figured out that I DID want a Fit, they were disappearing off lots quicker than I could grab one...and couldn't order one b/c the '09s were being made...I was almost too late to the party but managed to find one in St. Louis...long story short, I got the car I wanted in the color I wanted but had to ship it across 3 states...NO WAY would I have ever bought an '09....

CR started the stampede to the Fit after gas prices went so high.

That makes sense. The Fits were very hard to come by when I got mine. I had a request in at a dealer for a month and they called me when they got 2 in - a Red std and a grey Sport. I hadn't even sat in a Fit. One drive was all it took. I bought the grey Sport. They even knocked $600 off the list because the 09s were on their way in, which they expected to get list or more on. In fact, I got the last of two 08s at that dealership. I was pleased to see the identical car at another dealership for $2k over list a week later.

My other car is a Yukon XL, which was worthless when gas was $4/gal. It was cheaper for me to get the Fit, and park the Yukon. I'm sure gas will go back before too long so I'm still very happy to have bought the Fit. Bet you're glad you didn't get the Forerunner.

Actually it was a Rav4 I was looking at, so I corrected my post. But yeah, I am very glad I didn't get the Rav4. It was so cheapy inside and about 10K more than the Fit. Yes the ride was smoother, big whoop. I have always had a problem with Honda road noise, but with this car, I got what I paid for, it's an econobox, but it's also fun, friendly, and mod-able. The noise is the noise. it has enough going for it that I don't care so much. For 25K, I'd care more. I got a great deal and a great car!

Yeah, $8/gal gas is coming, just hang on until Obama's policies get fully implemented. And because no drilling, we will be even more dependent on Saudi oil. Yea!

aww its not that annoying, It even works with my enkeis just fine and was free to swap from one rim to the other.

I don't think the insight will affect the fits sales that much cause the fit is cheaper. Hybrids are just too damn expensive and not worth it at all if you consider burning more gas vs environmental damage manufacturing those batteries.

I got my fit over anything else because it was spacious enough for my large self and felt great to drive (miss the feel of my prelude a bit but oh well). I also didn't feel the urge to speed as much. It was also better looking than any other new car out there (I have to admit, I wanted a first gen xB way more than a fit and still kinda do sometimes, but they phased out that model like a bunch of fools!)

-More expensive yes, but the Insight sounds like a real bargain at $19k as compared to the Prius. I was ready to call my dealer and set up a trade until...

-...I considered the room issue. I bought the Fit because of the user friendly cabin too (although I could use a bit more leg room). The new Insight is considerably smaller inside than the Fit, which is a no-can-do for me and 2 dogs.

-Agreed - the 1st XBoxes looked waaaaaay better than the Pacifica version they offer now. What were they thinking??

Well said. That was reason # 2 for my purchase - resale. Hondas (in general) are solid cars that hold their value well (not counting global crisis ). I bought a new Integra when they 1st came out. I sold it 2 years later for more than I paid for it! I'm sure once gas jumps again I could sell the Fit for a good (for me) price too. Not gonna happen tho - like it too much!

I liked the xB at first too, but I like the Fit a lot more. Seems as if Honda did the same thing to the Fit that Scion did to the xB - tried to shape it into something more acceptable to many, while losing the uniqueness that the original design offered...and on both, the visibility was affected (granted the xB much more than the Fit) which was an instant deal-killer for me, even more than the looks...well, maybe along with the looks. I think both the new xB and the new Fit are pretty ugly.

The new Fit is probably a better sedan all around, but moddable? I doubt it.

I wanted a Fit when the 07 first came to the US. I just didn't have the cash until 2008, but that's ok.

I originally was gonna buy a TRD Quadcab Tacoma v6 auto from a dealer than my dealership owns, and they were trying to dick me instead of give me my employee price, which was supposed to be really good. Instead, I had the fit in the back of my mind as a cool lil car that made sense to get, and mentioned it to my GF. Her best friend at work(she works at acura, I was across the freeway at Jag/Aston/Rover) just so happens her brother is the Sales Manager of a Honda dealership. I told them I needed an SSM Sport AT and they said, it just came off the truck. As soon as my girl got off work we took my accord over to the dealer, saw it wrapped in plastic, we already agreed to a price on the phone, no extended warrantee, no add ons, and got it for 16,500. Threw the down on my AMEX and had them detail the car and we were out in 1 hour. Pretty much the whole time I was there, everyone kept coming up asking questions about my accord of all the mods. Everyone was really cool, probably the single easiest car purchase of my life. Of course, My accord coupe was actually 5 dollars cheaper than my fit brand new in 2000 at my cost I got at my OG home dealers I worked for growing up. I was so glad they just had the car, because getting my accord we had to dealer trade and nobody wanted to trade it. I always seem to pick the most IN DEMAND color/package combos. No way was I gonna buy the GE.
