headlights broken helppp
headlights broken helppp
so i don't know what the problem is here, maybe someone can help me. only my high beams work. no lows. is this something really wrong with like wiring or is this just a new fuse or new headlight? its getting a little annoying and other drivers are getting really pissed bc i gotta drive with my high beams on. any info would be great.
On a scale of 1 to 10 of requiring mechanical aptitude, the ease of checking a fuse is about a 2 and checking a bulb about a 4 imo (only because you can't get finger oils on the glass).
If you don't know how, ask someone who does to check those two things. 99.9% of the time its one of those two, and repair costs rarely exceed $30 if it is in that group.
If the fuses are good and the bulbs are as well, then it may be a wiring issue and something for a dealer.

Looks like fuse #12 & 13 protect the headlights. Do you have a mutlimeter? if so pull the inter fender down and get to your headlight plug. Going to the plug is a red/white wire this is for the low beams ( red/blue are hibeams) if you have 12v there it's the bulbs. If there is no power there but the fuses are good it maybe the selector switch.
Ground black lead of your meter to the car frame and with the red lead of the meter check the red/white wire for 12v with the headlight switch on and lobeam selected.
Hope this helps.......................

i know the difficulty of the fuse an headlight removal, but its f***ing cold as hell out and i dont want to dick around outside while my fingers slowly freeze and fall off, not to mention the snow that will be arriving in the near future.
just wanted to know if this had happened to any other fellow fit owners and if they had the correct diagnosis for me.kthanks.

Fuses are in the triangular underhood fusebox, #12 and #13. Unfortunately for you #12 is for the right headlight and #13 is for the left headlight. Since you have high beams and no low beams, you have a problem other than fuses.
Possiblities:
Possiblities:
- two bad bulbs
- dimmer switch/wiring
- high/low beam relay (does the Fit have one?)
- ??
thanks for the advice. im thinking options 2 and 3 bc it would be weird if both bulbs went out at the same time. but im bringing it to the shop tomorrow to see what the deal is bc i dont feel like dealing with it myself.
Weird yes, but certainly not impossible. Now that you've eliminated fuses as the culprit you ought to check the bulbs next.

Me too

I just had this problem yesterday too! By any oddball chance do you have Sylvania Silver Star Bulbs?
I checked everything, including the voltage output of the sockets and the relay. Like you, I thought it was just way too weird for BOTH bulbs to go, but low and behold, it was.
BOTH low beams were blown, no idea why but since then the GE (sad, I know) replacements are fine. Meaning no apparent line surging.
What's really blowing my mind now is how both left and right side fuses aren't so much as singed. High beams, fine. Fogs, fine.
Anyone have any ideas how this happens?

I just had this problem happen to me last night, i also have sylvania ultra bright bulbs, both low beams are gone, highs and fogs work. i'll check the fuses, but im sure its the bulbs, since they were both replaced at the exact same time, they just went out at the same time. they were built in the same factory with the same specs, makes sense that they would have the exact same lifespan
