Fixed flat battery (I hope). Replacement for Yuasha?

Yesterday:
My Ann's 2008 Fit Sport got the same flat battery issue while shopping.
Less than a week after a $300 service with 36,300 miles (just out of warranty).
First time we've every had a problem in 4 years and just over 36K miles.
Fit would not start due to low battery despite repeated attempts.
Called AAA and Pizzagoni arrived within 1/2 hour.
Fit decided to start when we retried again.
Tech put a handheld battery tool on it.
Battery low (12.4 volts) but condition good.
Motor was dirty.
Picked up can of Gunk at O'Reilys.
Car again restarted successfully.
Got home.
Removed battery.
Battery condition window indicated no "blue" color, just a red dot in the center.
Battery legend indicated it needed charging.
Placed battery on 2X6 piece of wood on garage floor (never put battery on concrete floor).
Connected to a charger set on lowest 2-AMP trickle charge.
Charger showed fully charged after about 30 minutes.
Left battery connected to charger, which was unplugged from 110V overnight.
Rinsed off motor warm motor with Gunk.
Rinsed off Gunk with Murphy's Oil (smells good now and it's as clean as when new).

Today:
Re-connected battery charger o 110V and again at 2 AMP's.
Charger showed fully charged within a couple of minutes.
So it held charge overnight.
Battery condition window indicated blue circle with red dot (fully charged).
Cleaned battery terminals with terminal post cleaner (wire bush).
Re-installed battery with a little Vaseline on the terminals.
Car started fine.
Set radio security code.
Set time on clock.
Drove to car wash and rinsed water over spray.
Re-checked battery condition window a few hours later and still perfect.

Is there a replacement battery available?
I've never like Yuasha batteries since the first time I saw one on a Honda Benli 160 in 1968.
Other than this, what a nice little car this Fit is to work on!
Much nicer than my Caliber SRT-4, about as nice as my Neon SRT-4 (yeah, I like big, turbo Mopar 4's).
Thanks.

Sounds like you saved it, here's another current thread on adding distilled water as well. I'm learning maint-free isn't so: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ml#post1033945

Not sure on the murphy's, but if you like the smell, why not ;-)

Thanks and yes, I was almost shocked when I noticed the Yuasha unit allows us to add distilled water. Talk about going back in time to 1968, LOL. Anyway, the levels were all fine so no need to add any distilled water.

I will keep an eye on the battery condition viewer. If it starts showing low on a regular basis, even with Ann remembering to turn the lights off (she thinks she may not have done that which caused the problem), we will look into a new battery. And maybe DRL's like her Turbo Beetle had.

For grins, I contacted Winter Honda parts. A new battery will cost $103.16.
Plus a refundable $16 core charge. So the total cost out the door is $129 sales tax. That's comparable to AutoZone or O'Reily. Winter has 2 batteries in stock. And apparently, it's not a Yuasha unit, so that could be good news for me I'll wait and see before we decide whether or not to get a replacement.

FYI. The OEM battery at the dealer is a few $$ cheaper than Auto Zone or O'Reilys (no stock at the time I bought mine).

Exclamation Costco battery for the win!

I would highly recommend Costco batteries. Last battery I bought from them cost me $55 and they come with a 100 month warranty. They seem to last forever.

in relation to that...last night i spent 45 minutes in a line to buy myself some Dr. Pepper and wax applicators because...

1) Idiot cashier either didnt have the balls or common sense enough to know that they dont take coupons from other retailers unless they have price point listed.

2) The lady checking out forgot her wallet in her car

3) This same cashier felt she had to walk around the ENTIRE store 3 times and find EVERY manager in the store to come tell this lady 6 times they they arent going to take her coupons

I mean it isnt that hard to read the sign on the cash register that says they only take other retailers coupons if it has a SPECIFIED PRICE on it...about went off on this stupid cheap lady in front of me arguing about her not getting her $.50 off barbeque sauce...of all freaking things u wanna be cheap with, its the cheap sauce to begin with...i mean CMON LADY!!!

just had to rant...sometimes the I.Q. of the general public pisses me off

She has an amazing memory and knows the 10 digit code for almost every item in the store and can key them in quicker than she or anyone else can scan them... The line at her register is the longest but fastest moving one in the store because the regular customers always get in her line.... Yesterday a customer and her husband took her to lunch and people buy her cokes all of the time because she remembers their names and is friendly.... I wish to hell she was like that when she is at home.

Not long ago the manager had her start working with some of the young cashiers but it is pretty hopeless... The people in this town are very unfriendly unless they are recent transplants and they will play hide and seek in the aisles at Wal-Mart to avoid answering questions as to where the merchandise you are looking for is located...I haven't been in Wal-Mart in a couple of years and it had been that long at least that I had been there before that... I have never been anywhere in my life that I have met as many illiterate people as I have here.. I pretty much just don't interact with anyone around here. I had been told by numerous people that it was weird as hell down here but I couldn't believe it could be as bad as it is..
