My intake temps get kind of high, like 130F+ Looking around in the garage I found a dryer vent so I moked this up. its pretty half ass and janky. Im really not sure if it actualy did drop temps, driving at 70 IA was as low as 122F but sitting at a light it will go as high as 133F. Im going to do some more test with and with out it, before winter and probable make some kind of intake box/shield.

I see a lot higher temperatures than that at stoplights and that is with the intercooler and hood louvers.. The water temperature also climbs when sitting still and of course the exhaust heat is staying under your hood as well... Reminds me that I need to insulate the Weapon R manifold with foil backed adhesive foam and DEI gold crap I paid so much for... It won't drop the IAT temp but will help some with heat soak... It's 90 degrees outside right now and feels really cool for some reason.

I want to say when I had the intercooler my IAT where around 110F maybe lower? I know I do have a bigger engine now in a small engine bay so Temps are probable going to be higher. After even a sort drive I can open the hood and jusf feel the heat coming from the engine. I want to say my brothers 07 Si has IAT around 120F. I want to just play around and see what I can do to lower the temp, plus I kind of like the look of the vent :P

Nice pix MN, lookin' good. I see you're taking lessons from (don't remember) DSM or Lyon with the dryer vent and Folgers coffee can mock up.

Hey, hood scoop next?

I had good results with hood louvers until I put the intercooler under the hood... The louvers pull air upward when moving and cancels out the downward air from the cowl mount scoop through the intercooler.. When at a stop there is no problem but the engine temperature and IAT climbs very quickly when stopped after a little WOT driving... I'll get it all set up right one of these days.

Lyons is a genuine mad scientist.. I stayed up for hours on New Years Eve to see what he had to say about his first drive with boost... I'd love to be up there in the Chicago area so I could hang out with him and the other crazies in the area... Not so much in the winter though.

I think we all did last New Years Eve. Just let me know when your heading up here. This winter is suppose to be worse than last year according to the news. They said if you hated last winter you might want to move. I lived here all my life and remembered the major snow storms of '78 but this time I have to drive a truck in it.

The winter of 77-78 was a bad one here too.. I was loading and unloading mail trucks on an ice covered dock back then... It can get bad here but it doesn't last as long... As long as it is a hard freeze I am alright with it because the lack of moisture is a good thing for arthritis pain.
