My very first post
My very first post
I purchased my brothers 07' FIT after he decided he wanted a Juke...always been into motorcycles myself...anyway, he was really into this site.
The FIT is retarded fast, in a good way. I love it but I don't get a lot of chances to race fools straight up here in the city. It's got the Kraftwerk supercharger kit with Meagan Cat Delete and Exhaust tuned up with a Blitz throttle controller, friggin' skunk2 coilovers everything for that really ass numbing ride and probably a few other things I haven't learned of yet.
I've been, for the past 2 months searching and searching and searching on this board about my next move.
Honestly, I love speed but I have my motorcycle for that. I'm down to drive slow...
My question, after an exhaustive search is how do I get Hella Flush? I want to crazy camber the thing with a super stretch tire.
Here's what I have right now:
I have SSR 16X7.5, I think, with no idea the offset wheels. I'm also sitting pretty low right now.
Given that I have a nice low stance I can work with that. I was thinking of going 17X9 in the front and 9.5 in the back with SSR's. SPC's camber kit will only get me 1.5 degrees but I've read some dude here found kits that did 3.
If you read this far and are shaking your head at me. I'm getting shit from my brother already for wanting to turn this racer into a VIP style car.
I know I want the rims pretty much kissing the fender. I want to roll my fenders for the rub. I want an amazing stance.
Again, if anyone can help me out with wheel size/offset recommendations with tires to stretch on them that'd be amazing! Plus spacers if I need them.
Thanks for reading awesome...

Or since you are looking to drive slow you should sell the used KW kit, which will help fund you in doing whatever you like..
Because you won't be able to put that power down anyways once you start going with wild changes in suspension and tire geometry.
Nice come back. I think 17 would be too large. Stay 16, but run low offset 10_15. Roll fenders, maybe even pull a little. Not to sure on tire size im not into that whole hellaflush thing. Only a craze will fade. Sounds like your on the right track though. Try posting your same question in the suspension or wheel thread. They will be able to help more.
Also welcome to our site your gonna love it.
Also welcome to our site your gonna love it.
Not a problem posting here. You get more views here, but some people are gonna light you up on that hella stuff up here. In those threads you will get your answer. Try camber thread as well. Good luck.
Now if only that made any sense.
You can keep the fit, but sell the SC. It will give you the funds to **** it up like you're planning to.
You are not only ruining the way the car interacts with the road, but you are decreasing the contact patch and killing your ability to brake as well. You are greatly increasing the unsprung mass which really screws with everything like handling, braking, and accelerating. That's just when it is dry out.
On top of this you are stretching tires, which is also dangerous, makes for a rougher ride and generally makes you look like you are 16 years old.
You have a nice car right now, in a couple years you will regret this when you finally get sick of what you've done and getting stuck on speed bumps and pot holes gets old. As well as chasing after body panels popped off when you do hit a bump at speed.
The car will not be neutral when you are riding on >3degrees of camber and you have to start messing with the toe settings to make it feel remotely settled at any speed. You are also changing everything including the tire scrub, but leaving things like the "kingpin" stock, which is for lack of a better word, retarded. You are putting everything from your wheel hubs and studs to ball joints and tie rods through hell. Then every time you get hit by a gust of wind you will be fighting to stay in your lane. You will have killed the ability to corner which is often the reason people buy a GD3 in the first place.
So I hope you plan on saving up for all the replacement parts and maintenance you will need over time.
It doesn't sound like you are going to take the time to research and execute this properly, or you would've posted this in the right section to begin with and a lot of those question would've been omitted because you could have already found the answers with a half hour of searching this forum and others.
Try doing something unique with that money instead of following a bunch of ignorant sheep to fit in with the latest trend. Give it a decent drop, some chassis bracing as well as struts and springs that will keep your tires from raping your wheel wells. Then take it from there.
You are going to take a fun car and make it something you will get tired of looking at, hate driving and impossible to sell when the time comes.

ahhh man, i shoulda posted in the kids section right?
Look, you have strong feelings about doing things, appreciate that! This obv. doesn't suit your palette.
I(Sheep) have feelings about a way(trend) I want to go(fit in) <---pun intended.
Again, appreciate all of your concerns buddy but I know what i'm getting into.
I know I invited your criticism and I can take it seems to me you don't think I haven't fully realized all of which you warn me about? But, I have and was more asking upon people who actually have a direct suggestion about wheel size rather than a critique on everything.
How about this? I sell the FIT keep the SC? wait...whatever the nomenclature is...
Oh, and I'm all strut braced up...dude, we don't do shit half assed around here. I should really just do a K-engine, right?
And if you don't get it. I'm going slow. I'm driving slooooowwww.
Haters want to hate.

Strong feelings about doing things right

And I definitely am not a proponent of a K-swap unless you are planning on making this a drag car. Which clearly you aren't.
And no I don't think you fully realize what you are getting into. Or you wouldn't do it.
Though now that you mention it, we might just need to petition for a kids section.
You didn't address anything I "critiqued" you on. Bear in mind, I help people rehab their cars a couple years after they do things like you are proposing.
Which in this case is riding a cambered stretched FF on Brooklyn streets

A couple of upper strut tower bars is not "braced up" and if you don't know the nomenclature you definitely don't know what you are getting into...
This isn't so much me "hating" on your as much as trying to save you much money, time effort and aggravation. You haven't done this before.. how would you know what you are getting into? if that was true you wouldn't have signed up here to ask these questions.
Good luck!

Indeed, I do get your drift, sir...
I don't doubt you're sincerity in helping/aiding and generally being "concerned" and the critique you left was very observant, to say the least.
However, as Bthasht put it it's my ride...I do what I want to. Haters will hate.
When it does go down the tubes I will be the first to report back to you so you can say "I told you so"
