Ignition Switch: How to reset the anti-theft code

Hi Freaks,

I have a 2007 Honda Fit base model that developed a problem with the ignition switch jamming all the time, and eventually it jammed permanently. The cost to replace it seemed outrageous, so I found a replacement part from the exact year on eBay and replaced it.

Everything now works well, except for the fact that the engine will not start due to an anti-theft code built into the ignition, which apparently needs to be reprogrammed according to the printed code on the sticker on the switch. (The engine turns over fine, but there is a green key indicator light that is lit on the dashboard.)

I heard from a friend that there is supposedly a procedure to reset the code, by disconnecting a wire and waiting 10 minutes, but after two attempts, still no luck.

Does anyone know how to reset this thing? My only other option is getting the car towed to the dealer to have it done, which will cost a fortune!

Thanks in advance!!

exactly what part did you replace?, if you got a new ignition switch, you would need to have it re-keyed to accept your keys
