My 2008 Fit Sport has 235,000 miles on the original clutch! It shudders pretty good, but doesn't slip yet - I'll change it eventually.

Somewhere on the clutch pedal assembly, up under the dash, you should see a plunger type switch that gets triggered when the clutch pedal is pushed. Just sounds like it needs to be moved so that the clutch doesn't have to be pushed in as far.

AFAIK, the car has no way to know where the actual clutch location is. There aren't any sensors in the bellhousing that I'm aware of. The ECU gets it's information from the pedal and hopes that the clutch is doing what it is supposed to do.
I disconnected my clutch switch when I first bought the car. I just make sure it's in neutral when I start it.

240k, but I'm in this thread because it's beginning to slip...

So any recommendations? Will likely go with a local shop for install, no mods, drive the car for delivery.

Any other items of wear I should be taking care of along with the clutch?

I've done clutch jobs on two different Honda Fit GD's

The first one was a Highway driven one, and the Original clutch was changed at 285,000kms! (178,000 miles)

The second one was city driven, it was the second clutch replacement at 120,000kms (75,000 miles), so that would average a new clutch every 60,000kms (37,000 miles).

So, I've seen these clutches go from 40,000 miles to 178,000 miles! Normally, these clutches should last about 100,000 miles. The moral of the story is, the life of the clutch completely depends on how it was driven and treated!

I am having issues with getting my 2007 Fit into any gear. I have to push the clutch all the way to the floor for sure and when I do get it into gear I slightly bring up the clutch and it engages. There is not much play in it. Is the clutch adjustment difficult?

Are you sure your fluid reservoir is full?

Sure enough it the fluid was pretty much empty in the fluid reservoir!! I do not think to check that like I do oil and water levels. Reminds me now to keep an eye on the brake fluid level. Thanks much Fitty!!
