That looks like a cat!!!

Front half of car on the passenger side? Did the exhaust get REALLY loud?

Are you running boost?!? It looks like it detonated!!! o_O

I hope its just the heat shield...

I had a feeling it was the Cat converter shield.

It is in the front right in the middle (but behind) the front tires.

The heat shield is "optional" in the sense it doesn't help the car much. It supposedly helps the cat heat quicker in cold weather. BUT it has the pretty IMPORTANT function of reducing undercar brush fires in dry, hot climates (if you are dumb enough to park a hot car 4 inches over dry grass, you see).

One thing I'll say is, don't leave it hanging there. Remove or replace, because as it is now, eventually it'll snag on something .. trust me ..

Is your car lowered? Where did that gaping hole in the shield come from?

Heat shield for the converter. Pull it off and run it. Fix it when you have time.

Do I see some other minor damage under there -- looks like some missing paint. Maybe you ran over something or bounced over a curb or something at some point?

PLEASE get that damaged shield off the car before it cuts the Oxygen Sensor wires!
