I wish I didn't have to do this recall. Its been about a month and I still have not done it. No issues. I do intend to do it soon, because I do remember a couple years ago when it was raining the windows would go down on their own and then lock so you couldnt do them back up. I had that fix, and now 2 years later we deal with another recall. I guess I will be spending a Saturday morning at the dealer. It really sucks though trying to make time for this in you schedule. Its not easy.

Well I sure guess I'm lucky. There's a dealer next to my work, but I really don't like them too much.

I feel you on that. Back when I first got my Fit, and was much younger, maybe 18-19, I went in for an oil change, she was only maybe 5-6000km at the dealer. Dealer told me I needed to replace the cabin filter. I always wait when they do work just in case for situations like this. I asked how much it would be, it was close to $70 installed. I said nah thats okay, leave it on the seat. Bill came out to $15 for the filter. Got home, dropped the glove box, looked around for a couple of seconds clueless, and then put it in. Saved a total of $70 for something that took me not even 15 minutes.

Yep, like our politicians, it is sad that people still keep dealerships in business. They make their money off used car sales and service. If people would only buy their used cars from individuals and would establish a relationship with a local mechanic, dealerships would already be a thing of the past. Since they still do exist, to get my revenge on $70 air filter replacement charges and unnecessary repairs, I send e-mails out to 4-5 service managers at dealerships and ask them to bid for my business on items such as transmission replacement or valve adjustments. On the valves, one dealer came back at $170 when all others wanted in the $400 range. Big savings. Give it a try if you feel compelled to go to dealerships for your service. If you live in a non urban area where there are not a lot of dealerships for you to choose from, then by all means, find a local mechanic that you can establish a relationship for life. Now back to our regularly scheduled thread.

Well still haven't received my official notice, contacted the dealer next to my work, its getting fixed Friday at 11.
She also noted that the first recall about this wasnt done, so the dealer in Oklahoma did nothing and told me it was. Nice to know, time to cause hell in Lawton Ok.

Well, my Fit is done with the recall for now. It got the parts deferred status. I'll be back in there later to get the updated switch when parts arrive.

They broke the garnish on the armrest on the door panel, and put a stupid fricken dealer sticker on the back. A few heated discussions later, an oil change, and a full set of all weather mats and the rear cargo tray. All I have to do is leave their sticker on, I'll take it off once I get my mats.

I bet you love Obama cause you pretty much enjoy mandating ppl what to do with their own property and lives. Become an Obamacare Navigator, they pay $45/hr to force ppl buy damn health insurance, you trully deserve that damn govt job.

YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO, I'LL TELL WHERE TO GO
You must really be a very angry and unhappy person. What does Obamacare or Union workers have to do with a Honda Fit recall? Why don't you just sell your car and buy something that will make you happy? If there is something that will make you happy.

My biggest fear is that they are going to break the clips that hold the door panels into the door after doing the recall. I can see several arguments arising out of that and Honda trying to avoid all liability. I just really do not want that to happen to me, cause then ill have to go out and order a new panel and install it myself. I really dislike the service department where my Fit was purchased. Hence why I try to do everything on my own.

they all zuk Gino. they all zuk. My service manager looked clueless yesterday when I presented my first recall notice. Obviously they had not gotten any parts in, and probably are only made aware of the recall once those parts come in. {Service Mangager}: "hey Mack, why did we get a shipment of 200 door switch panels? Well, I didn't order them, so let's ship 'em back."

Please stop with him. It's done and over with.

Easiest thing to do, take a small video on your phone. Show the door panel being fine, then show the dealer's sign. Also show the current time, the radio or a watch, so if they do break it, you can easily dispute it with your video.
I did it just in case. And it saved my rear when they did break it.

I don't know if we are talking about the same clips, but the dealer service department broke something on my armrest when they did this recall the first time, so now the armrest can't be properly installed to be flush with the door. There is a gap where there should not be.

Like you, I prefer to do everything myself. The reason is that, if good mechanics exist, I cannot find one.

You know it's a 20 ish buck part at the dealer?

Mine was broke from the rear. I went into the parts dept, told him what I was looking for, 20-25 bucks later, I walked out with the new part. I got lucky, it was in stock.

^^If we are talking about the water leak on the driver's side door, I couldn't give a cr*p. I live in Cali. Our Seattle friends are the ones who (maybe) need to worry.

If its that cheap and they do break it, I wont even bother arguing with em. Ill fix it myself. Ive broken so many clips in my day that I can safely say, I don't break them anymore.

And then the idea hit me... I am going to remove my door panel before going to the dealer for the recall. That way they cant break nothing. First I was going to say I would take it off in the shop for them, but might as well do it way ahead of time and no one will dispute a thing

After doing the recall, one of my headlights is out. What gives? I find it hard to believe this is a coincidence

Well, fast forward, and its now roughly Mid October.

I was contacted again today by the dealer for the time to come in and get my new part.
Already did it this morning, and it looks just like the old part. Nothing changed, maybe under the trim and inside the switch. Oh well, it's all done.

I have not received my second notice. Am I the only one? Should I go in to my dealer and see what gives? I went in to them a few months ago and they had no clue as to what I was talking about.

I got my 2nd recall notice months ago. I did the original recall, which apparently didn't take. I contacted the dealer months ago and just last week and they still have no parts for the recall. They told me they will contact me when the parts come in. Hopefully. I'm tired of Honda Fit car repair and recalls on 2 cars, each with less than 40k... it's a pain having to leave my car and finding ways to get around. I wonder if this 2nd recall on the switch will end it all.
