gd3 manual tranny question

hey guys, i i owned a 08 fit and im the 2nd owner after less than a year of owning it i noticed some noise through my tranny like a whirring sound and i have a feeing it is one of the bearings not sure which one but whenever i disengaged the clutch (pedal depressed) it goes out..someone told me its either pilot bearing or input shaft bearing,im planning to have my clutch replace in a few months so im thinking its better idea to do everything while im in there, question is..lets say it is the bearings that making those noises is worth it to replace everything needs to be replaced or just get a used low mileage tranny?..make everything easier not sure tho if used trannys will last..and lastly do shops charge separately when they pull out your tranny?..i mean is it a different charge doing the clutch and tranny? thanks..

If I recall correctly, I had that noise at approx 27k mi., and the dealer replaced (under warranty) the pilot bearing. I think they also replaced the throw-out bearing, just because they had everything open and it was easy to do as a precaution.

Sorry my memory is imprecise at the moment. The morning coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

So would it be prudent to replace the pilot bearing while replacing the clutch?

Is it relatively accessible part to replace?

I do not know. However, the rule of thumb is that, on a job that requires a lot of disassembling, you might as well replace whatever is likely to go next, so that you don't have to tear into the engine-tranny all over again any time soon. The more you teardown-replace-reassemble, the more money you spend on labor.
