puddle of water under brake pedal? 08' Fit Sport

08 Fit Sport.. 45K mileage..Done a lot of searching and it seems this happens a lot.. I notice a puddle under the all weather mat under the brake pedal.. is this the water leaking thru the door and back into the interior? or coming from the road under the door?

It doesn't seem to be leaking anywhere but the driver side.

is there an easy fix beside taking it in and having the damn thing taken apart? if it needs to be taken in, where in Chicago area? help? lots of snow turning to slush here in the next few months.. Thanks!

Well, trying to apply the KISS principal (Keep It Simple Stupid) :

Are you sure the water is not from snowy boots?

+++++++++++

From my reading (and experience) a leaky front door panel would let water in, and accumulate under the REAR carpet. (If you park 'nose-down' that would not apply)

But yeah, most likely from the panel. Rip it apart and seal it via the topics here that you searched.

Also, make sure the little drain holes under the door are clear of debris. Use a plastic twist-tie or Ty-rap to clear the holes, nothing metal that will scratch the paint and allow rust down the road.

++++++

If you are not comfortable doing the repair yourself, bring the Fit to a local garage, no need to go to a Honda specialist. I would print out the repair topic for their reference.

After some investigated.. I discovered the driver floor is the only place taking on puddles of water.. (found another but I'll get to that later)

My take now is that there's a faulty weld. OR.. Is that gap in the weld there intentionally? No question this is where the water is coming from...

Front passenger and rear floors are dry..

this is the drivers lower door, spot of seam in weld..with rubber strip

this is a close up view of the gap in the weld, rubber strip pulled back

the other spot I found was coming from the passenger side rear in the hatchback area, leaking from the compartment that houses the tail lights..not too bad, but the carpet was a little soaked.. I removed the panel and patched with duct tape some plastic sheeting in there.. we'll see how that holds up..

So was this the cause of the leak? I am working on mine as well. It had water on the driver's and both rear seat floors...and the hatch!

No it wasn't the cause of the leak. There was the same irregularity on the passenger side and I didn't have any water there. My hatch is leaking from the taillight compartment passenger side. A trickle. Took it back to the Honda dealer and they can't find it. Made an appt to take it back where they are going to remove the entire interior liner
