Holy Crap! You are SERIOUS! This is a good read and I appreciate learning what weighs what in here. Every little bit counts.

I'll be removing only my rear seats, spare and replacing the stock battery with a 2.3lb one again in the very near future.

It was mainly for the rubbing problem not weight, but I was curious to see what weighed all the same!

Got some Wilwood DPHA calipers to go on in the spring, should shed a few pounds but I have to lose the VX wheels and will be rolling on LS meshies for now.

Picked up racing seat, now to work on making the stock brackets fit. Hoping to save about 20 lbs with this.

Also, the stock driver's seat is 42.6 lbs.

Dev,

I'm willing to go the lighter seat and caliper route. I'm also looking to **Drumroll....stop the presses** purchase lighter rotors. I've read a LOT of info regarding lighter rotors. I'm looking solely for the purpose of being lighter compared to stock. I'm sure the company that makes one would make it for better performance but if it happens to be lighter than stock, I'm interested.

Will keep reading this thread (And stealing your ideas). It's one of my favorites on this site. I need to weigh my car again after making yet another exhaust change soon. I should be a little more than -200lbs less than stock (Last weighed 2360lbs vs 2550lbs stock). Nowhere near the epic levels you are at. Kudos! And please keep up the good work.

You too buddy. Keep in mind the bulk of this reduction is not suitable for a daily driver. Can't wait for race day!

When I race I will be removing all seats except driver. I wanted to keep the stock seat for the comfort of my wife. She already puts up with enough of my car related shenanigans!

I've also heard 1st Gen Insight rear drum brakes can bolt up to the GD, but not so easily for the GE..so I don't know about the GK.

I'm interested to see how much the weapon r weighs compare to the stock cat and manifold. Hopefully lighter!

I hear the innovative mounts are a few lbs lighter than stock too. I'm running an Ingalls ETD right now but it also is extra weight, functions great tho.

Also I didn't get a chance to weigh my coilovers before they went on but I am sure they would be a few lbs heavier, but well worth the adjustability...I imagine the adjustable dampening will be useful at the 1/4 mile. I am on full soft damping for daily use, haven't had a chance to try it any other way.

Dev,

Just wanted to post some info here I am reading in the Corvette forums around weight loss. Post is in this thread -->Brake Question for the Drag Racers
Post #2 by HOXXOH (I've been following some of his experiments at the track around weight and 1/4 mile performance. Very informative!

"I was on some site a while back, where a car guy who was heavy into physics had calculated that the rotating penalty for rotors is 1.14 to 1, wheels are 1.34 to 1, and tires are 1.92 to 1. He had measured several rotors, wheels, and tires from a number of cars and created a workable average. Using his numbers, my combo is the equivalent of 152 lbs of dead weight or in ET terms, about .167 seconds."

^^Needed to capture that information somewhere and the source for reference later. I hope you don't mind it being here as it is somewhat relevant.

Here's a worthwhile read from him --> 1/4 Mile Weight Tests

I'm going to try everything I can from your posts and people like him. I have a feeling my poor Fit will be gutted before I know it. Really trying to avoid this.

Great find! I've also looked into a lighter steering wheel, unfortunately not many companies list their weights. I ordered a 320 mm Momo "Race" which weights 2.7 lbs. gotta get a hub and the old steering wheel off to see the diff.

So I finally updated the list with the added submissions (airbags, ceiling liner, etc) and the G2100 seat and its well past the 500 mark! 508.30 lbs! I have a few more odds and ends to include when the parts arrive (new steering wheel, etc) but I would like to see if I could keep the 500 mark including the airbags.

That is a LOT of weight loss for such a small car. 20% weight loss if I did this on my car. Awesome stuff!

Yes, I'm still lingering here.
GK rear passenger seat is 29.5lbs .

Very close to what you got. Will be going after the front seats VERY soon. Just needed to post here for quick reference. Gawd...I love your list. Will be nit picking at parts very slowly.

Thanks, I did this all while fixing the infamous GD water leaks in the doors and trunk.

Got some more stuff to add to the list:
OEM steering wheel - airbag + wire reel: 3.45 lbs (1564 g)
RJ Max Light 13" steering wheel + 5 bolt adapter + MOMO hub adapter + horn button #4920: 2.91 lbs (1320 g)
Airbox bracket: 0.49 lbs (224 g)
Upper Rad hose bracket: 0.17 lbs (76 g)

Wilwood DPHA calipers pair: 9.84 lbs
OEM calipers (pair) shaved to fit 13" wheels: 18.41 lbs

Weight saved: 8.57 lbs

There would definitely be more savings here had I not "modified" my calipers.

How was the bolt on for the parts. Direct fit?

Holy crap thats awesome to know. I would love to get the calipers by themselves. I would rather get a better slotted only rotor and some Winmax pads. I'll have to contact Wilwood to see if thats possible.

Sorry for the late reply. Wildwoods were a direct bolt on, no extras needed...super easy and this was my very first time doing that type of job.

Just removed the rest of the exhaust heat shields and that U shaped bracket around the axle which appears to serve little function for a savings of 3.26 lbs.

Any new updates? I had to refer to this for guidance on my front passenger and driver's side seats. I'm looking to shave off another 100lbs to gain 2/10ths in the 1/4 mile. If those are any indication, I may be removing my passenger seat while racing, if it's easy enough.

Passenger seat is easy enough to remove, plus it weighs more than the drivers seat. I'm waiting to switch out the passengers seat with something similar to the one I have now. It's not summit but almost identical, a friend of mine has 2 of these seats hiding up in his garage rafters, wish I knew that before I one new.

Something else I've looked into is a race alternator, they are not cheap but they might save 10+ pounds.

I've removed more miscellaneous brackets from the engine bay to clean it up but didn't record the weight also. The no engine cover look is growing on me! I'm going to polish the valve cover, lower intake manifold, throttle body and perhaps fuel rail eventually for mostly looks but also to shave a few grams here and there lol.
