***Official GD Parts/Weight List***

List the weights of OEM GD parts here! I'll add them to this first post. I've included all weights which were spread out in this thread: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ht-thread.html Thanks to the original posters for these values.

I've included pounds and grams since we have international members as well. The additions were done using the grams values. My weights will be for a 2007 Canadian Honda Fit LX 5 spd.

I've included headings to sum up the weight a vehicle could lose when these parts were removed. For aftermarket parts such as a lightweight battery, the difference between it and stock were calculated and included in these totals. When we add these we get 534.67 lbs (242525 g) weight reduction (most of interior removed, lighter wheels/tires, flywheel, battery, stock intake and exhaust but no muffler, Summit G2100 driver's seat). Keep in mind, this will be a race trim only.

Updated with the driver's side airbag, oem honda splash guards and rear hatch trim. Tried to get the rear wiper motor out but the wiper arm was stuck onto the motor...probably due to the chilly weather.

Are you gutting your Fit or is as parts fail and get replaced or upgrade?

Well I'm seeing how much can be removed for track days. It's also my daily driver but I have no plans on driving it gutted...just race trim occasionally for the 1/4 mile track. My mods when I can afford them are intake/header/test pipe, exhaust removed (track only) and hopefully some 20" baby slicks if I can find them.

Ah, I still have a 95% stock Fit.
I wouldn't mind taking my back seats out, it's just the 1 time I need them they wouldn't be in the car.

I hear ya, mines 100% stock right now and i always have passengers. I do have some hx wheels, 5 mm trak+ spacers waiting to go on when I can afford tires. Oh and the Ultraguage is in there too. As far as performance mods I plan on a header, test pipe and intake. Stock exhaust for now as it will be removed at the track a couple times a year. :-) Now the plan is to document the weight of everything that can be removed, I think 200 lbs is pretty easy but from there it's gonna be tough while still being able to put it back into daily driver mode.

Added the hatch interior mouldings, hooks, misc. I'm going to be fixing the leaks in the car which was my original intention for stripping it out. But I did go for a short drive and there is a great improvement in acceleration with everything removed from the rear seats on back. Tomorrow I'll try to get more stuff added to the list.

Added lots of trim, winter floor mats, and I also removed half of the under dash firewall matting due to it soaking up water and causing not only a stink but surface rust under the pedal area. Luckily it's not rotted through!

The glove box is surprisingly heavy. Added that and summed up the seats and belts to reach a total of 179 lbs! Also the interior trim is adding up to be more than I expected...race trim only.

Looks like 250 lbs weight reduction is possible with removing all interior trim but keeping the dash and roof liner! Add a lightweight battery, wheels, flywheel and exhaust and 300 lbs off is achievable.

Concentrate on reducing rotating mass. Lighter wheels and tires are going to do more to improve acceleration than anything short of forced induction and dyno tune.

Texas Coyote, I totally agree! I have some HX wheels (11.75 lbs) waiting for tires to go on. Would love to get some Enkei RPF1s in 14" tho my budget is low.

The 14" Kosei K1 TS look good too at 9.3 lbs each and cheaper than rpf1.

I think the Kosei wheels are great for the price.. I have a set of 16" K4Rs with 205 50 16" tires for everyday use and 15" Enkei RPF1s I'll be fitting 195 50 15s for when I feel like baiting local kids at signal lights or on back roads.. Old age is taking its toll on my wrenching ability but when I do get all of the new stuff on it and it's properly tuned I'm going to have a hard time behaving myself..

LOL, any plans on tracking the car? I'd like to get to the 1/4 mile at least once a year.

I enjoy driving stealthy little cars that are fast but draw little attention from cops or the unwary that think they can intimidate me by staying on my back bumper at 80 MPG.. Most of the time I just poke around until I have an urge to go fast.. If I was to race, I'd have to work on it more and I am getting too old to do much of that anymore.. I have about $1500 in parts I still need to install and I will surely need a clutch upgrade after I do that. I've had this Fit since July 2006 and only have 41000 miles on it.. It's more of a toy than transportation.. I ride a Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan Classic sidecar rig more than I drive a car lately.
