Very good and useful information. 10lbs+ savings for the alternator. Sounds interesting. Will keep an eye out for this one.

It has been awhile since I have been around here.. I still have my Fit up on jackstands and badly want to finish what I've started but old age is kicking my ass.. I've been enjoying reading these post a lot..

Good to see you again. what do you have left to do?

I need a clutch that's for sure. In weight reduction news, I've found another way to reduce some seat weight by changing some brackets around. Unfortunately I have to add a steel adjustable slider so the wife can drive the car too, lol.

Long time since Ive updated this list. Just had the stock hood off and it weighs ~ 17 lbs.

Also with the addition of Innovative Mounts and removing the no longer needed front torque mount and some extra brackets, 7 lbs was lost in total.

Working on getting a decent battery tray for the ballistic battery and getting rid of the stock one, should lost another few pounds with that.

Also working on removing the axle back and long mid pipe and replacing that with a side exit exhaust. Going to use a piece of pipe off my old broken dc axle back to fashion a tip off the short intermediate pipe and exit out the side or simply turning down towards the ground. Should lose a significant amount of weight with that but would probably only give gains under nitrous use, since I was told open header on all motor L15A tends to lose power.

I guess a wide muffler couldn't be mounted there. Then again...weight I know.
I am still trying to learn why an open header lose horsepower. Well, at least why would you lose power if all the pipes merge before exiting out.

it was TPColgett who told me that info. I assume it would be a loss on the low and mid range and minimal gains up top for all motor application. Perhaps with headwork, cam and higher compression open header would be worth it. I will test it out under nitrous use, as it should work well then. My 1/4 mile mph will be the evidence.

Each side mirror weighs 2.54 lbs. Found an eBay set that claim to be 0.29 lbs each and are not crazy expensive like craftsquare or even APR.

Also I started trimming the guts of my hatch, the metal removed so far is 1.4 lbs. I'm leaving enough attached so the plastic trim will still connect however. Would like to do the same to the doors and just enough removed to maintain the function of the windows. Leaving the crash beams of course...we will see if it's possible, looks tricky!

So far I've got 2.78 lbs of metal trimmed from the inside of the hatch. Plastic trim still connects fine. Need to sand down the sharp edges and repaint...Pics when done. Still unsure about the doors, that may have to wait until this is no longer my only car.

Just weighed a stock alternator and it weighs 10.03Lbs 4629g with the pulley.
Those alternator that Myxalplyx posted look a lot like the denso units on the older suzukis will need to dig out out of my collection and compare.

cool thanks for the info! Just weighed my passenger side airbag and it is 6.97 lbs including small chunks of firewall mat I removed while in there.

1.22 lbs or 554 g saved with the removal of unnecessary engine brackets, 1.93 lbs or 874 g saved with the removal of the EGR.

Rear middle seat belt (attached to the ceiling behind the headliner): 1593 g or 3.51 lbs...don't remember if I included that in the total stated above.

White plastic ceiling brackets: 226 g total or 0.5 lbs

Curtain airbags: 10.2 lbs..this was a fair amount lower than someone else stated. May just be the cheap bathroom scale i use too...

Not quite as effective, but I'm sure that'll be SCC approved in the end. Use a dimple die on a few of those holes to maintain panel rigidity.

Rubber roof trims: 430 g or 0.95 lbs for both
More misc engine brackets removed: 0.3 lbs (135 g)
