2007 Clutch DIY
2007 Clutch DIY
Hello Everyone,
New member here. Owned my fit since 2007 and my OEM clutch finally went. I have officially pulled the transmission, and I will be replacing the clutch tomorrow. (YES, it was a tiny pain in the ass, many parts are awkwardly placed and difficult to reach, but not an impossible job).
I am wondering if anyone has done this themselves, and how they worked the gears afterwards for placement. Any tips or tricks that were successful for you, would be helpful for me. Please share. Thanks in advance

i just did this myself. if you have any questions feel free to email me and ill do my best to help.
Awesome. Thanks!
So far all is good. Everything is out.
I busted one bolt on the front transmission mount, but I'm going to drill it out today, put the clutch in, and then start putting things back together.
Everything was removed by hand, so putting it back together will be a little more complicated because I don't think I will be able to torque everything to spec. But im just going to do what I can and go from there.
I definitely need a massage after this. Next thing is suspension, big brakes and then an engine swap. But I needed the clutch badly and I need my summer car on the road before I can start really dismantling this car.

Cheater bar has been the life saver for the dismantling. Clutch is in. Transmission is up. Now to finish the rest. I hate that I have a job. It means I'm limited to like an hour or so of actual working on the car. Oh well. Thank goodness the hard part is done. Now I have to purchase a few pieces that broke from being worn out.
I'm contemplating doing this myself. how long did it take you guys from start to finish. I have never done a clutch replacement so I'll likely find someone local that has some experience to help. Any tips for doing this?
I would suggest going slowly, marking each bolt you removed with a number and the place you removed it from with the same number. I have 3 kids at home and business, so the car was down for a week. I could only work on it a few hours a night. I also had an entire two days I could not work on it, as I was waiting for parts. During the dismantle, I replaced the end links and the ball joints. Honda wants you to purchase a Lca, but the lca was fine, the ball joints were worn out.
When you are doing it, I didn't remove the wheel hub, I just pulled the driftshafts out. It was easier that way. I removed the sub frame, only because it made things easier. I also WD40'd every bolt that needed to be removed before I attempted to removed them. It made things easier. I am no mechanic, just a mom and a car enthusiasts but it was still fairly easy. Ratcheting wrenches are your friend, plus a cheater bar, one long and one slightly shorter.

I just replaced with an exedy clutch. I plan to do an engine swap, so this was really just to make it to summer.
Oh nice, did you stick with OEM or go to stage 1?
