P0172 Still Haunts me

Reviving the thread, thanks for much for all the informative posts. Finding this was shocking to me because I’m experiencing the same things and also tried the same things.

hoping the users are still frequenting the site!!!

sadly, all 4 new injectors and I still get this code (not as frequently as every 30kms or so). Sometimes longer sometimes less. Not OEM though, think I should try rock autos versions?

im totally stumped, anyone else have a solution for this?

PS Im turbo, and have a feeling it’s to do with the hks fcon mini. Drives perfectly and I get pretty good mileage still. Just pesky light comes on and ruins my day.

thanks for that. I’ve already changed all 4 injectors with brand new ones. I’m waiting for new fuel sock as the existing one is pretty cruddy.

here’s a list of things I’ve changed

- New sparks oem
- New coilpacks hitachi
- New o2 sensor oem
- New PVC valve
- New fuel filter oem
- Valves adjusted
- Fuel pressure is at 55psi
- EGR is ok (clean)
- TB is ok (clean)

after that, will change all exhaust gaskets just incase it is leaky somewhere and report back. My o2 sensor is on the stock double walled front pipe now though due to turbo, I wonder if this can cause incorrect readings.

it’s weird because sometimes I can drive for 250kms+ without reaching the light (car does 6.5-7//L/100 km). Overall the car drives perfectly smoothly, no hesitations no sputters and no misfires. Light just decides to come on when I least expect it. 🙂‍↕️

thanks and sorry for long post.

Were you able to figure this out? I saw OP said changing the fuel injectors fixed their issue, but I changed mine and still get the code. I was thinking maybe fuel pressure regulator? But stumped tbh.

I was able to literally 2 days ago! I replaced my 3.8kpa FPR - and haven't go the light to come back since. I literally replaced every sensor and triple checked every vac line and seal before I decided to replace the FPR again (since it was within spec ~52psi (top end)).

I would try that first - very easy to do and inexpensive to try first before attacking the others. Goodluck!
