Replaced fuel pump, car won't start

I recently noticed some problems (engine dies while idling too long, and abnormally strong vibrations coming from the engine occasionally) and concluded that it must be my fuel filter. After removing it and replacing the strainer, I started it up again to find that it wouldn't start. Anyone know what kind of damage I did?

I do. It sounds like the pump is working, but I must have lost some sort of vacuum pressure. I tried using starter fluid to see if it was the spark plugs, but it worked so I definitely messed up something with the pump

If you leave out an O-ring or don't get the internal connections properly secured it will not build enough fuel pressure to start the engine. Back when we changed the filter units as a recall on odyssey vans everyone made a mistake at least once that resulted in a non working car. It happens, but if you were able to get the pump out once you should be able to do it again.

Sound means the pump motor is running but fuel is not delivered
You may refer to this thread (pump filter change on 08 Fit Sport) for pictorial reference
