Greetings, I am just finishing up a clutch install and found a (maybe 10" vacuum hose) atop the 5 speed. I do know it plugs in on the top between the shift linkage points but goes where? so far that is the only spare part in this fun task. Thanks in advance

 

Not sure. I suspect its a breather line to vent the trans as it heats up.

 

Yes its a vent the auto has one too. If it didnt have one youd blow the transmission seals when it warmed up..

 

Yes it uses a hose for the breather vent. One end connects to a tube sticking up out of the selector (shifter) housing on top of the trans, the other end has a "plug" in it and the hose is supposed to fit into two clips or holders.

 

Thanks, no wonder I couldn't locate a second attach point. I did see where the clips were from discoloration on the hose but the end looked slightly stretched as if it were on another tube or inlet,(nothing inside) but I guess I can just leave it open. Thanks much.
